I had just finished reading a pretty intense story, so I just needed a short and sweet feel good read, and I got that in Eight Christmas Eves. It really is a precious story of a couple that meet for the first time when Cyrus is 18 and Helen is 10. She has lost her parents and her legal guardian. She is involved in a car accident on her way to her new guardians home, when Cyrus drives up on the accident scene and cares for Helen until the ambulance arrives. Once Cyrus makes it to his home for Christmas Eve, he is surprised to learn that his reclusive, wealthy Father is Helen's new guardian. He is concerned that his Father can't provide a nurturing environment for a young girl, as he knew from first hand experience that he is aloof and reserved from his own childhood. Cyrus goes out his way to make a special Holiday for Helen; which is the start of each account of the next 7 Christmas Eves in their relationship. Each year we experience the different ages/phases of their relationship and how they always come back to the traditions they started on that first Christmas Eve. I would have even love to see what happened on the 9th Christmas Eve, but all in all the ending was really a sweet one.

Reading "Eight Christmas Eves" was a nice way to spend an hour or two. It had more depth than I was expecting from a light read, and I admit that I got sidetracked a couple of times figuring out if the time line was accurate, but I still enjoyed it.

Sweet and touching story. Original and refreshing. No over the top drama that you typically find in romance novels. It left me feeling upbeat, happy and optimistic.

This story was so good, I finished it in no time. I found it to be very original and refreshing. When Helen appeared in Cyrus's and Drake's lives, it made them all the better. I liked how they all grew and their hearts melted (or expanded) and they realized they were a family. And that Drake wasn't as harsh/hard/mean/unfeeling/unobservant as he appeared to be. And the best part of him was what he said to Cyrus on the 8th Xmas Eve that caused Cyrus to finally let go. Helen, despite her sympathetic beginning, really had a great attitude and learned to deal with life. I would have loved to be her friend. Loved this story so much! I just wish there was a followup or at least a 9th Xmas Eve.

What can I say about this story?? Oh my goodness, I was so happy while reading this, and it is such a great story to escape into for a while. I started reading it early this morning when I couldn't sleep, and I finished it in about 3 hours.
I absolutely loved the main characters Helen and Cyrus. Their relationship started out innocent with a little hero worship by Helen. As the years went on, their relationship grew and Cyrus became an overprotective 'person' in her life who felt the need to not only protect her, but to change some of his more questionable ways when he realized that his actions affected her thoughts of him. As the years progressed further, I loved to watch their relationship and love for each other turn into something less innocent, but just as pure and loving.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants a HEA.

Eight Christmas Eves was an enjoyable read and offered a slightly different approach to the boy-meets-girl storyline. I liked the H from the jump. His kind, caring, loving, tender, yet strong character touched me. Of course the story centers on both the h and H, but the story is really about the conflict within him and how he resolves it so that he and the h can have their HEA. If you want a light read for a Sunday afternoon, this book is for you.

Wow I seem to have found a few actually good Christmas stories. Usually I end up with a bunch of cheesy Hallmark like stories which I love love love at Christmastime, but I have found a few authors I will have to read more of this year which is always good. Eight Christmas Eves was one of these stories. I really enjoyed this one and will definitely have to read more by this author. This story shows what happens on eight different Christmas Eves. Not every year, sometimes it skips a year or two, but it is only that one day each time. If I really think about the storyline I think it is a little odd and something that would normally creep me out a bit, but this author was able to make me not even think of that and want more of these two people together. So it was a great read.

This books starts off when Helen is 10 and Cyrus is about eighteen. Helen has been in a car accident on the way to her new guardians house when Cyrus finds her waiting for the ambulance. Her new guardian? Cyrus' dad whom he does not get a long with very well. He has already left for college and only comes home for a visit every once and a while. Usually it is a short visit, but with Helen here now he tends to stay longer. He doesn't want her to grow up how he did with no one really caring about her. Right from that first night they were close. They started Christmas Eve traditions and they cared about each other.

As the years go by and Helen grows up they keep those traditions. There are some ups and downs, Helen gets angry with Cyrus sometimes, but they always work it out and are there for each other. Eventually, once Helen is old enough, she starts crushing on Cyrus. This is the part that I would normally not like.
