5.0 out of 5 stars Most excellent coffee......
I've been drinking Eight O' Clock Coffee for quite a while now, and it never disappoints. 8:00 is easily one of the smoothest and best tasting coffees that I have ever had. It's blend of Arabica beans is never bitter and always brews up a quality pot. Rich color, good smell, and dependable flavor provide for one of the best coffee bargains around. This is easily the equal...

1.0 out of 5 stars Too close to the "Sell By" date
I agree with the previous reviewer that the coffee was shipped too close to its "Sell By" date. When it arrived, the coffee was only six weeks away from expiring. In stores, usually 8 O'Clock Coffee is seven to nine months from expiration. The coffee has the typical stale smell and taste you'd expect in a product this old. Unless something changes and they can guarantee...

This is easily the equal of more expensive coffees, and you won't find a better coffee bargain at this price point. This stuff sells out like mad at my local grocers, so buying in bulk may not be a bad idea.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than average coffee for $$$ less than coffees slightly better, August 22, 2008
I have been brewing this coffee for years and like my title indicated, it is better than average but much less than coffees only slightly better. Although I have purchased the 4 packs from Amazon before, the price here has gone up. I can buy in my area 1 12oz bag at Target for just over $4. It turns out to be with tax $3 less for 4 bags than you can get here on line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eight O'Clock Coffee is wonderful!, January 30, 2008
When I switched coffee brands and made Eight O'Clock coffee for my husband, he commented on how good the coffee was. This brand is so much better than the other leading brands. It has a rich, robust flavor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eight O'Clock good stuff every bag, July 9, 2009
This review is from: Eight O'Clock Coffee, Original Ground, 12-Ounce Bag (Pack of 4) (Grocery)
Have used 8:00 since the late '70. Every bag very consistent. Buy at Wal-Mart supercenters for [...] a bag. Buy at high turnover stores and you will find the expire date is always a year in the future. Smooth, flavorable and consistent. What more could you ask for. Go to [...] and earn rewards..

Update Mar 20, 2010

Had 8 O'Clock unblended for the first time in about 3 months today. Lately I have been buying speciality and micro-lot beans and mixing them with the red bag 8 O'Clock. Many micro roasters have been selling full pounds for $8, normally $13. It was real nice to have it pure again. I had forgotten how good of a overall coffee it is. And this from a 36 oz bag of beans ground at the store, that have been in the freezer for 3 months or so, and is about half used up. It is one of the better averaged priced coffee's that makes a good blending base. JMO

5.0 out of 5 stars Eight O'Clock Coffee Review, January 8, 2008
Great coffee, not too bitter or not too acidy. Have been drinking Eight O'Clock for years but cannot find it at a reasonable cost since they closed the Farmer Jack stores in Michigan. Found it on Amazon.com at a very good price and will continue to buy it on line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee, March 16, 2008

I love the coffee. It's all I drink since I discovered it a couple of years ago. I'm disappointed in the pricing, though, since I can buy it much cheaper at the local supermarkets.

This is great coffee, especially for the price.

The coffee provides a very aromatic scent in the air when being brewed and fresh out of the bag. It is well packaged, the grounds are sized nicely and it makes a great cup of flavorful coffee. It is a bit on the lighter side so it may not be your favorite if you're into the really dark cups, but for a medium-bodied blend, this is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars 8 o'clock coffee is still the best., December 1, 2010

We've used 8'oclock since Consumers Report named it #1. We buy the ground version, and brew with a Mr Coffee, just routine.

Some months ago we decided on more exotic coffee. Bought a French Press and a whistling pot, and a grinder, and tried numerous brands of fancy coffees.

We set up a "coffee log" to keep track of all the various coffees and the details of the brew (amount, time of brew, degree of grind, etc),

My son has a several thousand dollar machine which makes all kinds of coffee, espressos, and so on, and he is quite the expert in knowing about all the coffees out there, so we had good guidance.

The results of all this experimentation? We use 8'oclock ground, 4 measures to 5 cups of filtered water (important!), normal brew in Mr Coffee. There is nothing that can beat this for strength, flavor, after-taste, and convenience.

And you can't beat the price if you have Amazon ship 4 bags a month, automatically.

There is really no other choice than 8'oclock.

I have been drinking 8 OClock coffee since I was a kid. It has taken me several years to find someone who sells this coffee. It is the best coffee I have drank. As long as Amazon sells it I will continue to buy it.

Unless something changes and they can guarantee in the product description that the coffee will be much fresher, I'd pass on this if I were you. I'm slogging through all four bags because I'm trying to learn my lesson, but I bought a fresh bag at a local grocery store to give myself a break in between.
