Well...I had never played the arcade version of this game and I wasn't sure quite what to expect. It's a shame I didn't know what I was in for.

"18 Wheeler" is one of those games that doesn't have much to it. It consists of three different modes: Arcade, Score Attack, and Parking.

ARCADE: This is the main part of the game. You have four different truckers to choose from and you race on four different stretches of road with them. When you complete all four stretches of the road, then you have won the game. You can unlock only one bonus trucker and there are no new stretches of road to unlock. You just have to keep doing the same ones over and over again. Boring.

SCORE ATTACK: Completely pointless mode in which you pick a trucker and drive three laps around four (of course) different areas. The point? To try and smash into bonus cars and earn points. That's it. Yup...boring.

PARKING: The only truly challenging mode of the game. There are a total of six (!!) parking challenges. You steer your truck around different obstacles and attempt to park it inside a designated area within the given time limit. The last few levels are quite difficult. Your enjoyment of this mode will certainly depend on how enjoyable you think parking a truck in a video game is.

Overall, "18 Wheeler" is a big disappointment. Not surprisingly, since this game was derived from an arcade game, the graphics are extremely mediocre. The gameplay has its fun moments but any experienced game player will be able to beat the racing levels very quickly. It doesn't have any substantial replay value so once you beat the game it will probably just sit around collecting dust.

My recommendation? Rent it if you are a truck fanatic. Otherwise, steer clear of this one and don't buy it.

If you have not played this game before, and you want to buy it. Dont. They have this game in video game arcade's. The game has only 5 trucks to pick, and only 4 levels. It only takes around 20 mintues to beat the game. It is cheaper if you play it in the arcade, and it is more fun there. Just think about, would you rather spend [item price], or .50 cent.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only truck-nuts will enjoy it, July 14, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Eighteen Wheeler American Pro-Trucker (Video Game)
18-Wheeler:American Pro Trucker is very fun at the beginning, and a blast with two players. It is actually extremely unbelievable easy if you know how to manage the trucks on Arcade mode. Arcade only has 4 cities to drive on. If you are good at it, give yourself about 20 minutes ir less and there you go. It is mostly Arcade/Action then a true racing game. Okay, you can unlock n odd Japanese/Chinese truck if you win Arcade with the 4 default truckers, but why? It is just worst to control than before! And the graphics are good, but absolutely not the best, so others like Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, SpyHunter, WaveRace, Starwars, Sonic, have better graphics than these. I definently would not buy it, and believe me-you will regret it. Maybe you can rent it, but I wouldn't recommend it eaither. If you LOVE trucks like nuts, buy it. If you want a fun driving game get SpyHunter. The Two-Player Parking Mode is fun but gets boring pretty quick, and the entire game gets old and boring and tiring, so I really would not recommend this game. If you don't believe, rent it and found out for yourself.

Thank you for reading this rview.

the arcade game is fun where you drive across the country but it only has four places to drive to (and you would not reach your destination that fast) it has okay gameplay butt as brett johnson said it dosent consist of much, besides arcade you have parking and score attack, parking is fun there are six levels and you are parking in five different places on each level. but score attack is stupid you drive around a track three times avoiding all the the cars except the bouns cars. when i bought this game i thught it would have more to choose from so unless you like games you will get board of after half an hou steer clear of this game
