4.0 out of 5 stars Good choice for EIT preparation
I graduated in May of 1997 with a B.S. in chemical engineering. I passed the EIT on my first attempt with 89% in November of 1999. I spent about 10 months in preparation, during which I studied this book and worked roughly 90% of the practice and sample problems in it. This book was the only thing I purchased in preparation for the exam. Keep in mind this book only...

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many errors
I used the 1997-1998 version of this book. Although it seemed to me to be one of the better review books around, the many errors in the review problems were a large source of frustration and loss of precious study time for me. The problems were all in SI units (a plus since you can now do the FE in SI units), but it seems that the author and his helpers were somewhat...

Keep in mind this book only covers the general version of the afternoon exam, which is what I chose. If you plan to take a discipline specific exam in the afternoon, you'll need to look for additional review materials.

My advice to anyone taking this exam is: (1) start preparing as early as possible. (2) Use and become familiar with the NCEES FE reference during your review, since it's the only reference you'll be allowed during the actual exam. The NCEES reference is included in your exam fee and will be sent to you after you sign up for the exam. (3) Work lots of problems and learn to work quickly, since you won't have time to derive formulas or try different approaches on exam day. Rote memorization is not necessary, but quick recognition of a problem type is crucial.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only study manual you need to pass the FE/EIT exam!, January 4, 1999
By A Customer
I highly recommend this manual to prepare for the FE/EIT exam. I took the FE/EIT exam six years after finishing my B.S. degree and passed on the first try. The manual gives a thorough overview of each topic with easy-to-understand text and example problems. It focuses on what you need to know to pass the exam. Even though I bought other manuals, this is the only one that I used to study for the exam. With the money-back guarantee, you can't go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book to prepare for the EIT!, November 25, 1998
By A Customer
I checked out a few books before deciding to purchase this one. It was the ONLY book that covered all the pertanent information that was covered on the test without extraneous engineering concepts. I passed the exam with flying colors thanks to Lindeburg.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I used the 1997-1998 version of this book. Although it seemed to me to be one of the better review books around, the many errors in the review problems were a large source of frustration and loss of precious study time for me. The problems were all in SI units (a plus since you can now do the FE in SI units), but it seems that the author and his helpers were somewhat careless when converting the old problems into SI units. Hopefully, these have been corrected for the 1998-1999 version. The review material was good for the most part, but I felt it could be expanded in some sections. If you have been away from school for a while you might want to find a more thorough reference.

This was the only book I used to study for the EIT exam and I passed it on my first attempt. The reference material and sample problems provided are as close as they can be to the actual exam format and exam questions.

If you follow the authors suggetions on how to approach and study fot the test you will pass the test.

Because it had been 2 years since I graduated from an engineering technology program, I planned on taking the test at least once before I had an honest chance of passing it. With this book as my only studying guide I was able to pass the test on the first try. If you make a reasonable effort to follow the study guidelines given in the book, you should have no problem. I was surprised with the results.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book lives up to the guarantee, October 1, 1998
By A Customer
I was fascinated by this book's guarantee--it's the only test-prep I've ever seen that guaranteed users would pass the test or get their money back. Once I got the book, I understood why the publisher could do this. The manual really does cover everything on the exam, in very clear langauge, using many examples and practice problems. Highly recommended for anyone confronting the FE exam.

3.0 out of 5 stars a problem oriented review of the topics, not a general review., June 9, 1998
By A Customer
This book is geared toward those students who have recently completed their education. The premise is that working lots of problems, you gain an understanding of the subject. This is not really the case for those with inadequate preparation and who need a thorough review of each topic. For this type of student then a more thorough review book is needed such as Engineer-In-Training License Review, or EIT Civil Review, two popular books that fully cover the topics, with step-by-step examples and solutions, a review of each topic, followed by a sample exam.
