5.0 out of 5 stars Best Catamenia Album, 'nuff said!!!, September 13, 2007
This review is from: Ekhata (Audio CD)
I can't believe it took me this long to discover this band. Catamenia is considered MeloBlack and it's a banner that suits them very well. I'm not a fan of pure Black Metal and I imagine that purists of the style will hate Catamenia. On this album they strike the perfect balance between beautiful melodic guitar, speedy drums and gorgeous harsh vocals.

Not all songs are on the same level but their are no fillers (except for a crappy instrumental track) and most the tracks are just amazing. But it's not their best sounding album (production wise), it sounds muffled, not as clean as their following releases. I've listened in part to their 3 precedent albums and I own the 3 following ones and this is the best, by far. Now they seem to be dangerously going toward a ,dare I say, more commercial sound with lots of clean vocals. But each albums still have killer songs. Catamenia is an ever evolving band managing to stay true to their genre but they sure are flirting with elements that could really frustrate some fans.

Anyways, amazing album, can't go wrong, 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Eskhata, October 2, 2002

Well i would like to say this album is great...better than the first album "Halls of Frozen North" and is much harder but i still havent heard Eternal Winter's Prophecy and Morning Crimson by them...i dont usually like keys but in this album they play an important role and just make the cd better...keys are not overused or underused and guitar riffs are excellent and its the vocals that make this album so good...If you like melodic black metal like Abyssos and Naglfar u should check this Finnish band out
