5.0 out of 5 stars Juanes antes de ser Juanes

1.0 out of 5 stars This CD really, really sucks!
I am a Colombian die-hard music lover and since I totally love stuff like El Bloque (maybe the best thing ever made in Colombia), Carlos Vives and Aterciopelados I cannot hide my disappointment with this CD. It's been 4 years since the last time I heard them and I was surprised 'cause they haven't changed a bit! They still make that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Por siempre Ekhymosis..., May 27, 2001

5.0 out of 5 stars Ahead of their time., October 3, 2000

I can't believe that anyone would give one star to this band. Now that everyone is on the Latino music bandwagon, it is safe to say that this band would have been a hell of a lot more popular had they had their start now. Juan Esteban Aristizabal (Lead vocals, guitar, and composer) is set to launch his solo album any day now, and I expect he will not disappoint. Those who know this compilation album, and have heard their previous albums also realize that these were a bunch of 15-year olds when they got together, and 18 when they had their first hit album, well before many Latin "Rock" bands. I recently rediscovered it, and have been stopped often by people who want to know who they are and where they can pick up the album. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best music I've ever heard!!!, November 30, 2001

In spanish class our teacher added a little spice one day to her lesson. We listened to Roca Rosa and Raza and tried to translate it and sing it. I would normally not enjoy the pop kind of sound but I really thought it was great. It was so much fun and the music was the type to make you want to get up and dance. I really enjoyed this cd. The music is so great. Everyone should have a copy!!!
Adios,
Jennifer

5.0 out of 5 stars A "resumen" of 8 years of hard work, December 5, 1999
By
Juan Pablo Uribe (Bogotá, Colombia) - See all my reviews

I've been following this guys since they started playing kind of "metallica's" way of heavy metal with a mixture of some harder trash influences and alternative cuts. As they grew, they used other kind of influences, from latin rhythms (such as cumbia) and more pop-rock alike stuff. Their music turn to be more mature, original and rich.

This album is the result of years of work trying to establish them, finding a definitive sound and being what they really want to be, that's why this album is called Ekhymosis. The last 3 songs are re-edited songs from the past.

5.0 out of 5 stars ¡Lo Mejor!, March 24, 2004
This review is from: Ekhymosis (Audio CD)
After listening to the Juanes CDs, I decided to get some Ekhymosis CDs to see his past work in that band. I was very impressed. This is one of the best CDs I've ever heard. It's an innovative mix of rock and pop sounds that produces a very enjoyable sound. I think I might even prefer this CD to more recent Juanes music (even though I think Juanes is an amazing artist). It's too bad that Ekhymosis broke up.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the true Juanes, He needs to go revisit his roots, March 15, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Ekhymosis (Audio CD)
This is the true Juanes, the one we saw on "Un Dia Normal". An artist with a great energy, a need to make music and let everyone know what he thinks. This album reflects the rocks roots of the now pop singer. With his latest album "Un Dia Normal", Juanes changed from being a revel rock singer to a submissive pop. I know his stuff sells, and that is why he has changed it so much, but he needs to remember he statted to make music in the first place. Juanes please go back to your rock roots.
