I thought Contra-Ataca was awesome the first time I listened to it. However, I wanted to give it a few more listens before writing comments. After listening to this album several more times I have to say this is a very solid effort from Tego.

Abayarde, Enemy de los Guasibiri, and El Subestimado are all excellent albums. Contra-Ataca is an evolution of Tego's music and is just as good as the aforementioned albums. Reggaeton purists may be turned off by the many influences on Tego's past couple albums, but I really dig it. In fact, I wish Tego would do some more stuff down the road that incorporates more salsa and reggae.

There's plenty of pure reggaeton music out there, so it's nice to have something a little bit different. Tego is doing his own thing and it works well. Contra-Ataca has interesting beats and is well-produced. The lyrics are also good. Much like Wyclef and The Roots, Tego has a ton of creativity and is not afraid to break off from the mainstream to try something fresh. I look very forward to listening to his future albums.
