This is an incredible album. Carlos Vives has really matured through the last couple of years. A different rythm from Tengo Fe, which was more classical, I believe with this two albums Carlos Vives has finally found his path. This album is a mix of Vallenato, Cumbia, and inland beats, that rock you. I recommend El Amor de mi Tierra, Fruta Fresca and 19 de Noviembre. As an excellent and innovative performance of one of Colombia's most beatiful songs, La Piragua was masterfully performed.

This album is absolutely fantastic! I heard Fruta Fresca on the radio and spent the next 4 months trying to find out the title and artist. Finally I found out and ordered the album, slightly wary that maybe Fruta Fresca was a one-hit wonder... I couldn't be happier to be wrong. Carlos Vives is a brilliant artist. Each song makes your hips start moving without you realizing it and the energy in the music is utterly contagious. There is not a single bad song on the entire album! I'm as excited as when I first heard of Shakira and Marc Anthony.

I first heard Carlos Vives when a friend gave me "La Gota Fria". That is a great CD with musica tipica flavor from Colombia. It was something new for me because Vives brought a fresh interpretation with a great beat to the songs, but remained faithful to the traditional instruments and sounds. "El amor de mi Tierra" takes the concept a step further. I can hear more of the artist's own style yet the folk influence is there. I loved it, it's a fresh and different sound and I hope the Spanish radio stations will give it a lot of airtime. Music is so diverse from one Spanish speaking country to another, this CD is a great addition to any collection. Vives has great love and respect for his country's musical traditions yet I think his style can appeal to an international audience.

first of all, i must apologise with you because of my english. well, try to understand, ok? i also want to share with you what i think of this cd. to be honest i don't usually listen or buy music of carlos vives (i liked very much, from "La Tierra del Olvido" :pa'mayte and la tierra del olvido). But when i hear Fruta Fresca, inmediatly i decided to buy it. something happened to me, i fall in love with that song. even thouh, honestly i did not expect to like all the album as i really LIKE IT NOW!. since that time, i'm telling all my friends to buy it. emotions will get you when you listen to (in my opinion) the 5 firts songs. i hope you share what i wrote with me.

This is one of the best CD's I have purchased this year from a latin artist. The music makes you feel like dancing and the lyrics on some of the tracks are so romantic. I love the main track 'El Amor de mi Tierra'. I think there is something for everyone on this CD. I recommend it to everyone. You will get your money's worth.

Este album es magnifico se siente un trabajo muy maduro y con bastante dedicacion , se siente en la sangre cada canción y permite disfrutar los sabores de la tierra amada . COLOMBIA

Esta nueva produccion de Carlos Vives es increible! Con canciones como "19 de noviembre", "el amor de mi tierra", y "fruta fresa", Carlos Vives continua a demostrarnos porque el sigue siendo uno de los artistas Colombianos mas amados de America Latina. Despues de su album La Tierra del Olvido, no pensaba que el podria superar ni llegar al nivel poetico de esa produccion, pero la verdad no me decepciono. Bravo Carlos!

This is the type of CD that you must have if you like to hear and know more about good Latin music. Vives is a very gifted musician and arranger; you can tell by the way he dresses the sound in contemporary quality without affecting the soul of his native music. The tunes are also very fun and they make you dance even if you don't know how to.

I first heard this record when I was in Colombia about 3 years ago and have subsequently bought the CD 6 times. Every visitor from the US or UK who hears it asks me about it and I usually end up giving it away.
Knowing Spanish will help you enjoy this more - but even without it, the rythm of the music feeds into you.
I own several of CVivas's CDs, but keep coming back to this one.

Después de conocer a Carlos Vives escuchando "Tierra del olvido" pensé que no se podía mejorar. Ahora sí me he dado cuenta de que estaba muy equivocada. Esta colección tiene mucho nuevo pero también lo clásico de Carlos. ¡Magnífico!
