Is this For REAL?!,

Everyone is familiar with Norah Jones - Jazz Pianist (with Country/Blues Influence) and well established posse of backdrop and beautiful music. Now - would one consider such a band to come about to doing a 180 from the norm?
This is Norah Jones's 180 - She shows her evolved Guitar works (Yes, she can play Guitar as well) and colaborating with her Drummer and Bassist from her Handsome Band to create a "Punk-Rock" group. I was plain blown away at the idea existing. It was like 3 years ago I saw a picture of her playing in a band wearing a blond wig, ballroom face mask, fishnet tights and playing with a guitar (Fender Mustang?). It was that picture lead to this project. So it is for real - Norah Jones can really bust out of her shell if she wanted. The music is relatively simple structured tablerature (from what I can interpet off listenin) but she managed to produce some great music. It has its moments of being suggestive themed - but it is completely light-hearted and almost all her songs manages a moment (or two) of humoring lines. Only devout NJ fans may know of this project (since radio/TV will apparently have a problem with her joking about weed - when a rapper gets away with murder and rape talk... whatever - its mainstream be-ess and I won't put up with it).

This is a great album! Totally different from all others Norah's work. Some lyrics made me laugh, so funny they are!

This review is from: El Madmo (MP3 Download)
If it weren't for Rolling Stone magazine, I wouldn't even know this album existed. An article about Norah Jones mentioned her side project El Madmo in passing, and I found the album on Amazon. It's a totally fun neo-punk album with Norah, her longtime bandmate Daru Oda, and the drummer from the Handsome Band as well. The songs alternate between fast, raucous numbers and slow, almost menacing tracks. The vocalists interject various obscenities and questionable references into the lyrics, which will deny this album any airplay (assuming such things even exist anymore), but add to the atmosphere in a way that other, more crude bands such as Steel Panther fail to do. It's so unexpected from someone like Norah Jones who has built her reputation on a more soft-spoken persona, but again, that's one of the reasons why it's so much fun. Check this out!
