Book Description

Praise for the El Mosaico Series:

"It reminded me of a comic book series with imaginative and rich visual ideas. I’m going to go out on a limb and say for anybody who likes Steampunk and Dr. Who, this book will be right up your alley." ~The Speculators' Club Review

Clayton Cane was made–not born–in the Civil War.

A Confederate plantation owner-turned-madman stitched pieces from a dozen different body parts together and then used Voodoo magic, depraved science and arcane power to bring the patchwork soldier to life–and as Union river cruisers shelled the plantation, the patchwork man escaped and ran into the swamp.

Since then, Clayton Cane has been traveling the brutal frontier of the American West, living by the gun as the bounty hunter known and feared by his scarred face and the nickname El Mosaico.

Cane is a brutal gunslinger, bounty hunter, mercenary and soldier of fortune and his adventures bring him into contact with a West as wild and monstrous as he is. From the monster-haunted bayous to the foggy streets of Victorian London, Cane remains a violent force trying his best to capture his target and survive. With only his two revolvers at his side, he takes on cannibal cultists, vengeful ghosts, the living dead and more bizarre and terrible foes–all in the name of getting his bounty.

4.0 out of 5 stars El Mosaico July 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is an interesting concept of a book. Cane is a cross between Frankenstein and a bounty hunter/ mercenary. The book is designed like a composition of short stories featured around Cane, with each chapter a new quest. While there is nothing really wrong with this style, it just makes reading the book a bit tedious reading the details about him over and over. One thing I thought was a little weird is that he has the memories of past lives he was made from. With that said, I did enjoy the book and creativeness that went into the very detailed characters. This book was given to me for an honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gun Slinging Frankenstein's Monster December 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you love mixed genres, you can't help but love the patchwork gunslinger in Michael Panush's latest book. El Mosaico, Vol. 1: Scarred Souls is a Frankenstein's monster of a story set in as many different story tropes as the namesake character has body parts from various corpses. This collection of daisy chained Weird West short stories is a potpourri of dark magic, science gone bad, and 1930's pulp horror. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Every chapter is a short story featuring Clayton Cane, a cowboy bounty hunter made like Frankenstein's monster by a mad scientist turned voodoo priest at the end of the Civil War. The creator died after making just one of what was intended to be an army of super soldiers, leaving a southern states' Captain Dixie--in the same vein as Captain America for a failed government, except a lot uglier. The serial tall tales take us through old Egypt, the cusp of the Ragnarok, London, and the boarder-lands; to name just a few of the vast world settings. We meet friends and foes of the enigmatic protagonist. At the end, a greater purpose in Cane's life becomes clear.
