I saw this movie when I was a little girls in the USA. Cantinflas portrays a priest who has been transfered to a new town after finishing his training. His unconditional love for this town and the people help him to reach out towards troubled marriages and teens. If you are wondering if there could really be such a person, the answer is yes. I met him when I was a little girl in Mexico and to really know what he is like, just watch this movie. He is exactly like "El Padrecito."

Excellent copy. I have seen this movie and enjoy the humor, the story, and superb acting of the main actor "Cantinflas." Mario Moreno is the best Spanish speaking comedian I know. I shared this film with my own minister. I do not get tire of watching his movies. He is a true legend.

In this movie Mario plays a new priest that has been sent to a town to practice. When he arrives he doesnt recieve such a great welcome because the towns people and the old priests' family thinks he was sent to take over the church. Through out the movie you'll find out how Cantinflas wins everyone over with his many great attributes.

El Padrecito/The Little Priest(1964) is a solid movie from the latter part of Cantinflas' career. It sparked my interest in Mexican cinema. Mario Moreno Cantinflas was a famous comic actor and humanitarian. Some people might recognize him as Passpartout from Around the World in 80 Days(1956). Cantinflas was also in the unsuccessful, unpopular Hollywood movie Pepe(1960). His work echoed Charlie Chaplin. His films were driven by non-sequitor, verbal gags. Mario Moreno Cantinflas died in April of 1993. Cantinflas is still with us in spirit. I've seen people impersonate him on TV. In El Padrecito, Cantinflas played Father Sebastian, a priest who is sent to a town to replace an aging priest played by Angel Garasa. Father Sebastian has to earn the trust of the people in town. El Padrecito reflects Cantinflas' old fashioned, religious values. The film also has a family friendly, "Capracorn" tone. Rosa Maria Vazquez, Angelines Fernandez, Rogelio Guerra, and Jose Elias Moreno co-star. El Padrecito is a must see for Cantinflas fans and people who enjoy good movies.

I love this movie. Cantinflas plays a newly ordained priest who has an unconventional perhaps unorthodox way of thinking. He's a nervous, short memoried priest who constantly challenges the system. He gets transfered to a small mexican town, San Geronimo el Alto to take over from the elderly Padre Damian and encounters hurdles and obstacles especially from the rich atheist local shot caller Don Sylvestre and the incumbent priest's protective sister excellently played by Angelines Fernandez. Eventually Cantnflas wins over the townspeople thru his charm, intentions and sincerity. Typical Cantinflas rambles on saying much without sayin' anything, but he knows what he's talking about! He gambles, drinks fist fights and bull fights. Street smart and unconventional with a heart of gold. Greatest Mexican comic ever!

I recommend this movie to all those--old and new--fans of Mario Moreno. This most recent version of the original Mexican--black and white--movie series of Cantinflas has retained the original qualities of the old ones shown in movie theaters in Latin America and the Spanish Caribbean from the 1950s onwards. I recommend all Cantinflas movies--as something out of the ordinary--to those old fans of Mario Moreno, and all those who might be after old fine arts films in Spanish with English subtitles.

I saw this movie when I was a child and just remembered that I liked it very much. As soon as it arrived, the whole family watched it together and we all had lots of fun. For native spanish spoken people, the jokes are super funny because the way, Cantinflas -the main character- plays with the language. It has english subtitles, however, I am not sure if they are capable to cause the same funny effect as in spanish. It is a funny, family movie that at the ends has a teaching.
