EL PASO AND THE SALT WAR, August 2, 2011
This review is from: The El Paso Salt War (Gunsmith) (Paperback)
Though this novel of The GUNSMITH has little to do with actual history, in 1877 something of its kind happened in El Paso. Politics and tariff over salt near the Guadalupe Mountains disrupted the civil government for a matter of weeks. Nothing like that occurs in this story yet Clint Adams is slowly drawn in to the politics of salt.
This novel has the politics and the salt but not much else to tie it to real 1877 history. The story becomes more a murder mystery in which members of the Republican Salt Ring are being killed off by an unknown person, possibly even one of their own members. In addition a gunslinger named Ray Bogart has been hired with big money to kill Clint Adams.
Another early read in the GUNSMITH saga from J. R. Roberts (Robert J. Randisi). A pretty good read, too.
Read on pards. There's more of those westerns on the shelves!
