Every review I read of this album mentions that it is a crime that it isn't better known. I don't know anyone who has even heard of Walt Mink. I have to agree that this album is vastly underrated. The folks at Pitchhforkmedia.com, however, have it as their 17th best album of the nineties. I think with a touch better sequencing that this would be a solid 5 star album. The first songs are absolutely perfect. After the first 5 songs the greatness is peppered in between songs that are good. If some of that brilliant start was mixed in later in the album it would make for a better listening experience.

Anyway, the songs that aren't perfect are very good and perseverence will have you loving those as well. Another thing I wanted to mention is that a lot of people say the only draw back is the high pitched singing voice. It is never really high pitched, and never annoying. I'd say that it can sometimes be vulnerable, but I think John Kimbrough has a great voice. You absolutely will not be dissappointed with this purchase.

There are no reviews here so I figured I would give one. THe best live show I ever saw was a Walt Mink concert. When you hear this CD you think "How could a power trio RECREATE this live?" I will answer that for you. I don't know. But they do. Every song on this cd is good, some are great. I especially love the acoustic masterpiece Settled. buy it love it live it

Another great record by WM. El Producto features a different drummer than their self-titled record, and though he has a different style of playing, the band doesn't miss a beat. EP also features what might be John Kimbrough's best playing - inventive, catchy and spine tingling. Just listen to all the stuff he does on "Overgrown" (I absolutely love the bridge in this song), and you'll get the idea. This band rocks!
