This is a detailed chronicle of the rise of the Arellano Felix brothers and the Tijuana Cartel. It explains you how drug cartels shaped up and the context that allowed them to gain power and infiltrate nearly all levels of government. Starting in the 1980s with the organization of the "families" or cartels and the division of Mexico into operational territories by Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo, the "Godfather".

The book gives a very well documented and source backed image of how the Tijuana Cartel's origins, alliances, enmities and rise to power. It gives you a great context to compare against with the actual crackdown on cartels by the Mexican government.

The belated author was a journalist based in Tijuana and saw himself the city's transformation starting on the 1980s.

El gran periodista Blancornelas, nos describe con fechas, nombres y datos importantes. Es muy interesante como describe las operaciones obvias y también lo que no fue muy conocido como 'el consejo de jefes.'

I don't think the information was clear enough. I thought this book was going to be the English version and it turned out to be the Spanish version of which we could not understand well! Was totally bummed about the purchase after my relative rec'd it and told me it was in Spanish!
