the book that started the love,
This review is from: El regalo mágico (Paperback)
I read this book when I was in sixth grade. I had just moved from the Dominican Republic to Bronx, NY. My world turned upside down. It felt awful. Then I found "El regalo mágico" and I understood the power of books. Here was a boy that understood what I was going through. He thought the same things as me, felt the same things. I felt less alone. This book is a very good portrayal of what its like to be a kid dealing with the sadness, loneliness, confusion and fear of moving to a new country. And most importantly, this is the book that showed me how amazing books are. Its the first book I fell in love with.
