Book Description

August 1993
Elaine Cox is an adolescent tomboy of short skirts, bare thighs and snub-nosed insolence. Her misconduct puts her under the command of her middle-aged admirer, and as punishment and seduction alternate, a dark romance begins in the soundless vaults and tiled discipline rooms. Soon Elaine is a tomboy well-chastised, the recipient of passionate punishments.

2.0 out of 5 stars Arousing but non-sensical - and in the end just plain cruel., April 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Elaine Cox (Paperback)
Manton's story takes place in a "girl's reformity," where nightly the girls are punished with cane and strap for various offenses. One wonders where the families are of these poor girls ... or were they merely abducted? Perhaps Manton could not suspend my disbelief. Admittedly, certain portions were arousing. The main character's preoccupation with the lady of the title was slightly reminiscent of the Lolita theme.... just very slightly, though, as Manton's character is much cruder than Humbert. The ending of the book I will not divulge. Suffice it to say that while, in Manton's mind, such a progression of events may make sense, I found the ending unnecessary and horribly perverse. If you like to explore the darker nature of punishment, you will enjoy this book; if you like erotic spanking, you may wish to try another.

1.0 out of 5 stars one of the ugliest books ever - gives pornography a bad nam, October 8, 2002
By A Customer
Manton takes a character from the entertaining Amorous Adventures of Captain Charles de Vane in a grotesque, horrifying and ugly direction. (The use of this character's name as the title of the book suggests deliberate misleading advertising to entice the unsuspecting enjoyer of Victorian erotica into thinking that this will be a bondage and discipline story a la Charles de Vane or A Man with a Maid.)

This is not a bondage and discipline story. This book describes the murder of women for the pleasure of men. The cheerfulness with which these murders are described is appalling.

I returned the book and got my money back. I gave it one star because zero stars was not an option.

4.0 out of 5 stars Elaine Cox, December 26, 1999

Richard Manton writes Erotic Books. He is so close to the character Elaine Cox that this makes a good adult book to read. It's not for the weak or faint Hearted.
