This is a great introductory text for the subject of elasticity applied to geomaterials. Don't take intorductory to mean simple - the reader should be familiar with fundamental concepts of mechanics, material behavior, hydraulics, and soil mechanics. The book would make a nice text (of a couple) for a graduate level course in applied geomechanics. Couple this text with the authors' "Plasticity..." text, and you have a great primer on the subject.
