I bought this wrap after about 2 months post-ACL reconstruction surgery and wish I would have had it all along. This should be a prerequisite for any person considering knee surgery! I am now 1.5 years post-surgery and will still use it on occasion. The best thing about this is the velcro wrap...it will not come loose when you shift your position AND you can wear it while walking about the house....very nice! While I have used this for my knee (and the sore knees of visiting triathlete friends), I also lent this to my neighbor who was suffering from a severe ankle sprain and he was able to use this wrap. I like the versatility of this particular size wrap for that reason (as compared to some of the more body-part specific wraps that Elasto-Gel sells).

Summary: must have in any household freezer! Sure beats a bag of peas! =)

I'm a professional massage therapist, and often use gel packs with my clients. I ordered the Elasto-gel hot/cold wrap after injuring my knee, and have found it to be an excellent aid to the healing process. The wrap is very comfortable, and remains competely fexible at all times. It stays cold for about 40 minutes - ample time to help reduce inflammation and decrease pain.

Bought this because I was using it in physical therapy and I wanted the exact same brand to have at home. I had acl/meniscus surgery and this is perfect after a rehab session. I've used several other gel packs before this but will never use another except my elasto-gel. 9" x 24" is good size because it wraps perfectly around my leg but will also work for back pain or any other aches.

This gel-pad is a gem because it is big enough to wrap around a larger thigh as well as a slender forearm. The flaw is that with only two velcro straps to keep it in place it often slips and you need to readjust it.

This is our second type of wrap. It works pretty good. When "frozen", it is still plyable (the old ((Icee Type)) is rigid - not bendable when frozen), which enables you to "mold it" into the area you want it to cover. It is heavier than the older type, and the coldness doesn't last as long (about 1/2 hour). We purchased 2, different sizes, so we can cycle them in the freezer if we need to have a continuous cooling. Of course, the older type can't be used for heat, but we haven't used this on heat either.

Let me start by saying I love ElastoGel products & have used some of them for many years. (Yes, they last many years!) They are comfortable and the coverage is excellent. The cervical collar and the huge back one are covered in a deep blue non-slippery fabric that is long lasting and works very well as a cover to the flexible, dense gel within. But this long wrap and some of the other products are covered with this light blue, slippery nylon-type fabric that is miserable. First, the velcro catches on it and raises the nap badly. Second, the gel inside slips around in the covering, which is a major problem in a wrap as long as this one.

I tried removing the outer blue cover but the gel inside is also covered in the same slippery nylon fabric (ah, no wonder it slips so much: nylon against nylon. Any novice seamstress could tell you that's not such a great idea.) I called the company to find out if I could purchase a dark blue heavier cover like the covering on some of their other wraps. The answer is no, there are no alternatives. Moreover, I was told this slippery cover is indeed a terrific heat-conveying fabric. Well, maybe if enough customers complain they will change the material. There is simply no reason for this situation since they already work with another, better fabric.

So if you are choosing between one of their darker blue items and one of the lighter ones, if the darker size will do, go with that. Only choose this light blue material if no other size will work for you.

This product definitely helped me after my knee replacement! They used one exactly like it at physical therapy and it was so good I had to have one for home. It arrived in record time and was a great help after my exercises to relieve the pain.
GOOD PRODUCT

This is perfect to keep in the freezer to have handy for any aches. I've used it for knees and low back. I love that it can be microwaved also. I've had mine for over 8years now and just got one for my dad. He loves it too.

My physical therapy group uses this product and it is wonderful. The large size (9 x 24) is the best one to buy as it covers legs, back, etc. comfortably.

My father, who underwent knee replacement surgery recently, used my amazon account to order this. It arrived in two days from the order date. It is very convenient and effective . He uses it every day and it conforms well to his knee and has been an important part of his rehabilitation. His surgery was November 11th and yesterday he was snow-blowing the driveway. Highly recommend this product for any injury or surgery rehab.
