Physician Review of Elbow Ice Wrap,
This review is from: Elbow Ice Wrap by Cold One (Misc.)
I am a young athletic physician with frequent overuse injuries related to intense physical pursuits. However, I wouldn't say that my educational background has any bearing on my ability to critique an ice pack. I must say though, I am pleased with the quality and ease of application of these ice packs. I have tendonitis in bilateral triceps tendons and am using these as one piece of the puzzle to control the inflammation. I have them both on and am still managing to type and drink a cup of coffee and my arms are ice cold, now going on ten minutes!!! we'll see if they hold up, cause they're going to get frequent use.

This product does help if you're trying to control inflammation, but it would work a lot better if there was an opening at the elbow joint so you could bend your arm.I would recommend looking at something else for the money.

I bought this to help ease my tennis elbow. What I like: Adjustable velcro connections making easier to put on than most elbow wraps, provides good cold coverage and stays cold for a long time (at least 45 minutes, if it's been in the freezer overnight).
What I don't like: It looks like it's flexible, but when thoroughly cold, it's actually frozen and it won't allow your elbow to bend. This isn't a requirement for me, but it does limit what you can do while you're wearing it. The cold parts are actually small squares of a gel-like substance encased in a rather flimsy plastic-type material, they're hard as frozen ice cubes after having been in the freezer. It feels like this material will tear easily when the gel-substance is frozen though I haven't torn it since I've been using it; suppose it must be light-weight in order for the cold to penetrate and reach your skin. These are fairly minor "cons" however; I'm overall glad I purchased it. I always keep the upper strap in the same position, so it makes pulling it on and closing the lower strap easy to accomplish with one hand. That's been my biggest issue with other elbow wraps, they've always been very difficult to put on with just one free arm. This one is easy to get on and off and stays in place once you have it on.

There are not a lot of options for a compression ice wraps for elbow. I bought this one and hoped it would be effective in applying the coldness in the part of the elbow that is needed for tennis elbow. It worked great and is secure enough to allow you to do things while wearing it. Would highly recommend.
