5.0 out of 5 stars it's the best
I've used this hair dryer for years to straighten my very curly hair and it's the best by far. I tried one of the T3 dryers and it couldn't come close to this one. At about 60-70 dollars, it's a great deal for the type of professional dryer you're getting. Don't waste your time trying another dryer.

This hairdryer was fine while it lasted, which was about 3 months. It started smelling as if it was burning when used. Then it stopped working completely. It was never dropped or damaged, and was only used by one person, drying their hair once a day. I emailed Amazon to find out how to get a replacement, and they never responded. I finally called Amazon, and they informed me that after 30 days one has to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer's written materials say you have to ship it back to them, and pay them $8 for return shipping. They then will repair it. Thanks, but for all the hassle of packaging, shipping, and paying for postage back and forth, only to get a "repair," it's just not worth it. I don't expect a hairdryer that cost almost $70 to fall apart with minimal use after three months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elchim best hair dryer on the market, January 9, 2007

It's no mystery why most professional hairdressers use this traditional non-ionic dryer. Its multiple heat and air flow options let you dry your hair quickly and effectively, without the undue noise of the ionic dryers in and around this price range. You'll get a good return on your investment with this wonderful product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Consider this an investment in anti-frizzy hair, May 17, 2009

This hair dryer is awesome! I have a long history of buying cheapy Conair or Revlon hair dryers from Target or Costco ($[...]!! What a deal!), and have an equally long history of frustratingly frizzy hair. Funny, I can spend hundreds of dollars on anti-frizz product every year, but never occurred to me to invest in a good quality hair dryer. This is an investment at a great price and will actually save you money on all those anti-frizz products. Once you learn how to blowdry your hair properly with this dryer, you too can look as if you've just left the salon with a blow-out. As proof, I have a drawer (and a basket, and a shelf) full of no-longer-needed styling products, and a Conair hair dryer that I now use for shrink wrapping gift baskets. There is a learning curve though. It's hotter than you'd expect (don't point at your scalp and blast away), but adjustable and you don't have to keep the heat on your hair quite as long as with cheaper dryers. The Elchim Pro 2001 dries hair quickly - roommate has super thick hair and I have thin hair but a LOT of it, and we both have long hair (mid-back and longer). Works the same for both of us. Dry in sections. Use a good quality brush, and pre-dry spritz with a leave-in conditioner or a protective spray. Enjoy your new look!

5.0 out of 5 stars Professional hairdryer, May 12, 2007
By
My hairdresser has one of these. I snuck a peak at the brand, and decided to get one from Amazon. I saved about $50 over the salon price.

More importantly, to me, if you're going to spend $70 on a hairdryer, it better do something special! I love this dryer. It has a unique way that the air flows out, and it does not appear to make my hair frizzy.

It has an extra-long cord, as it is usually used in salons. So it gives you a lot of room to work. It has different heat settings, and of course, different speeds as well.

I was tired of buying and throwing away $25 dryers. I believe I have bought quality here, and am confident this dryer will be working for many years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic dryer, September 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Elchim 2001 Professional Hair Dryer (Elchim Classic)-Black (Health and Beauty)
Love this hair dryer. It is the hottest and most powerful dryer on the market. (Gotta love those Italians.) And yes, it is relatively quiet.

There are three speed settings (fast, faster, fastest) and three heat settings (hotter than hell, normal hot, and cool). The only "disappointment" and I use the word mildly, is that there's no instant "cool" button - you have to click to the cool setting.

In Canada, this hair dryer sells for $189CDN at Deliniation in Toronto - so the savings via Amazon were significant, even with shipping.

The cord is extra long and heavy duty.

I do a quick dry of my wet shoulder length hair (hottest setting, fast speed), then I put it on the merely hot setting to do my fancy stuff. I use the cool setting to seal my ends.

It's a great hair dryer, and I'd buy it again in a second.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny, August 11, 2008
I just got this dryer. I have used it 3 times. The day I got in the mail, I wet my hair down, with no shampoo, no conditioner, just to try it. Can't believe it. It was like I had a whole new head of hair. Very smooth feeling and soft. I have been looking for years for a solution to my problem: Frayed split ends, shaft splitting and frizz everywhere. I have gone through loads of expensive professional products. Currently using Aveda. Now I don't hate the thought of washing my hair anymore. I was only washing 2 days a week because I dreaded taking my old blow dryer to my hair. I may even get away with switching to cheap hair products! If you have dry frizzy hair you will love this dryer. It is lightweight too and more quiet than the cheap dryers. I wish I had discovered this dryer a long time ago. If it broke tomorrow, due to a defect, I wouldn't even complain if they didn't replace it. I would just buy another. That's how good it works!

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly happy, October 17, 2007
This hair dryer is not as powerful as I expected it to be, even on the highest setting. The attachment helps to direct the air flow, without that I would be pretty frustrated.

4.0 out of 5 stars not bad for an expensive one....., December 5, 2011
This review is from: Elchim 2001 Professional Hair Dryer (Elchim Classic)-Black (Health and Beauty)
Just bought one of these, based on all the online rave reviews. I have EXTREMELY lonnnnng, yet babyfine hair----so not just ANY old Dryer will work on it. Much to my suprize, this dryer is pretty decent. The first thing I felt was---it's really solidly built, and did not feel AT ALL like it could spark, or explode, or get too hot. Very well made, and you can tell instantly by the sound, and the pressure of the air, that this machine is superior by far to Conair or Revlon. The medium speed setting, coupled wth the highest heat setting is wht I used to blow mine initially until almost all the way dry---then i usually use the highest pressure and highest heat settings, for finishing touches. My hair felt really puffy, and thick afterwards, and nicely straightened and shinier thn normal. I thought, though everyone else's comments state it gets too hot---tht it did NOT get that hot. But it still seemed to do the trick wth my rather moody fine hair. Looks glossier, and thicker than Conair or Revlon can get it. I'm glad I spent the extra cash on it---when your hair's over 2 feet long---it's WORTH it. They key here, is to initially start out blowing the ROOTS of your hair...alllll OVER......that is what gave mine the nice lift, and thick feel. Then use the nozzle attachment to straighten, and tame the short fly-ways. You won't be disappointed.
