5.0 out of 5 stars The best way to kill 200+ hours October 25, 2012
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3| Edition:Collector's Edition|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I see a lot of negative reviews on this site for this game and I feel they are unjust. People are giving one star reviews because of glitches I never had and Bethesda has addressed these and uploaded patches for, so they shouldn't be an issue for anyone. People complaining about load times need to go back and play some PSONE and PS2 games because I think they forgot how terrible load times were for these consoles. Yes, the load times going from outside in the world of Skyrim to say, inside your home, maybe be anywhere from 20 to 30 seconds. It can detract from the game and become annoying. Overall though, this game is too amazing to be given such poor reviews based on this small annoyance. In my experience, people tend to not like things after they become too popular. When Titanic won a s#@* ton of academy awards and made more money domestically than any other movie, there was a backlash of people who had liked it and then trashed it. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has suffered the same fate it seems.

This game is more than a game. Jeremy Soule's score rivals that of Howard Shore's Lord Of The Rings score. It brings you into the world of Skyrim with a brooding and menacing of pounding drums of war. The mood is set and the player is transported into a world with almost endless possibilities. If you want to design your character as a man and marry another man, you can. If you want to run around naked and kill everyone you see, you can. If you want to attend the college for magic, you can. If you want to do the main quest and side quests, you can. If you just want to hunt and work as a blacksmith, you can. I spent a fair share of my time in the land of Skyrim chopping down bandits, stripping them of their clothes and throwing them into rivers, off waterfalls or off of cliffs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Skyrim Collector's Edition November 11, 2011
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Edition:Collector's Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
For starters, the game is fantastic. The huge expansive world, literally limitless quests (seriously, certain areas will never stop generating quests), great gameplay, gorgeous graphics, and tons of weapons, armors, spells, etc. But I wanted to focus this review more on the collector's edition itself since if you've read any media outlets reviews, you already know the game is great.

The dragon statue is in two pieces. I very nicely detailed dragon that is about as high of quality as it could be without it being made of metal. The wall it sits on, however, is cheap looking "china plastic". From a distance, you won't notice the cheapness and the quality of the dragon overwhelms it. It looks pretty awesome I have to say.

The art book is also very high quality, with a thick leather (pleather) bound hard cover and nice thick quality pages.

If you get the PS3 edition (as I did) the making of disc will be a blu ray, whereas the PC and X360 get a dvd.

Finally the physical map. It is not cloth as I thought it would be, but instead an odd thick paper stock that is supposed to emulate that of parchment. I was disappointed that it wasn't cloth however I was pleased at the quality of the parchment style map. Just glad it wasn't plain old paper.

Overall, I was worried that I was going to be disappointed in the materials because of the high price point, but I was not. At $150, I figure $60 for the game, $40 for the art book, $40 for the figure, and $10 for the making of disc and map sounds about right given their quality.

If you don't have the money for the Collector's Edition, you can't go wrong with the game.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
First off the PS3 version of this game did get quite a few bad reviews at first because of all the bugs and the serious lag that kicks in after plalying for a while. but since the newest patch (Patch 1.4) a lot of things have been fixed. I haven't had any problems with the lag since the update, and they fixed the common mission glitches that this game use to have there may still be more but I haven't run into any others.

I will cover the limited edition items before the gameplay since thats the version I am reviewing. The statue is oh my god awesome, it looks great and is a nice addition to my dragon statues. The art book that it comes with has some great art in it that goes over quite a bit of stuff. The Bonus of DVD I haven't actually watched yet since whenever i look at Skyrim i go straight for the game.

Now I was a HUGE fan of Oblivion I put so many fun filled hours into that game and I must say Skyrim is even more awesome than that. It is improved in so many ways. Obviously the graphics are greatly improved the world is just beautiful. The combat is also improved from Oblivion. The Story was just fantastic a bit short but this game has SOOOO many side quests that even after putting over 300 hours into the game I still haven't completed everything. The game has practically all the guilds Oblivion had, it has the mages guild, the thieves guild, the dark brotherhood, and the companions is practically the fighters guild.

They took a few things out, nothing extremly dissapointing though. You can't create your own spells anymore. There is no greaves in this game the cuirass and greaves are just one set of armor, most people im sure wouldn't care but it kinda bugged me.
