I found the investigators added interesting, as well as the monsters.

It's quick, easy to learn, and a good cooperative game; perfect for a little down-time gaming when other things take too long.

This expansion makes Elder Sign more like Arkham Horror, but without extending the game time.

This expansion breathes some new life into the base game as well as fixes some issues I had with the game. The expansion adds new cards to all of the decks and updates a few cards. The new spells and items are great, one of my criticisms of the base game was the lack of diversity in the spells and items. Unseen Forces adds new spell and item effects not just calling a red dice a pistol as well as an ax. The expansion also adds new adventure cards.

The expansion provides updated cards for adventurers, other world cards, and the entrance. I had the revised edition of Elder Sign so the adventurer cards were already updated. I really appreciated the updated other world cards, the old cards seemed to have pretty useless rewards given the difficulty of the challenge. Oddly my favorite change is the 4 card entrance (even though you can no longer buy an Elder Sign for 10 trophies). The single card entrance seemed cramped and was an odd size. The 4 cards seem to fit in better and make the game more portable.

The game also adds blessing and curse dice into the mix. They add an extra layer of strategy / difficulty into the game but haven't had a major impact on the few times I've played.

The expansion is not perfect. The box insert is useless, like most generic Fantasy Flight inserts. Descent also suffers from this. I split my game pieces between the 2 boxes and removed both inserts. Secondly there is an option in the Chapel to buy any spell or item for 8 trophies if the player is already blessed. I (or the boardgamegeek.com community) can't figure out a good reason since everything can be purchased for cheaper next door at the Gift Shop....

Overall it's worth the $25ish dollars!

If you loved the base game and are looking to get more of everything (each card type and component and a bump in difficulty) then this expansion delivers that. You get more cards of all types and two more dice that add new mechanisms to the game without making it convoluted. The rules are still easy to follow while adding more variety to the game.

My gaming group has been playing the basic Elder Sign game for a while now, and we like how simple the mechanic is, while still being challenging enough to be fun. I've read some reviews that claim the Unseen Forces expansion makes the game too easy, however, that has not been the case with our group...especially if you run into Abhoth! The introduction of the Blessing and Cursing mechanisms are welcome, as is the ability to remove Doom Track counters for completing adventures. To balance this, the game has removed the ability to purchase Elder Signs from the Souvenir Shop, and the Blessing is ridiculously easy to lose (just fail an adventure, and there go your 8 Trophy points).

The updated character cards to replace broken/poorly-worded mechanics are a nice inclusion, as are the updated replacement cards for some of the original set's adventure cards.

Overall, I am very happy with this expansion, and with Elder Sign in general as a game. It's quick, easy to learn, and a good cooperative game; perfect for a little down-time gaming when other things take too long. Highly recommended.

This expansion adds some much needed variety and difficulty to the original game that is much appreciated. The new cards are really fun and the replacement cards are much needed. And the new mechanics (blessings/curses/reprieves/etc.) add so much more flavor. I don't think I'll ever want to play the base game by itself again.

Elder signs is already a pretty good little card game that moves fast and is easy to pick up. This expansion adds some additional things that are missing from Elder Signs that are already present in other Cthulhu board games (cursed/blessed and etc). This expansion also increases the difficulty of the game (which is a good thing since the game was already pretty easy).

Lastly, the expansion adds several new characters, new bosses and all of the other cards. It also breaks up the museum entrance into four different cards, which can be flipped over, effectively closing them, by other effects in the game.

I'd say this is a must have for Elder Signs.

This is an expansion for Elder Sign and it's great. It adds in curses and blessings and changes the door card to a shop, infirmary, etc. This expansion makes Elder Sign more like Arkham Horror, but without extending the game time. The set also includes a bunch of new adventure and other world cards, as well as interesting new mythos cards were you have to choose between two possible outcomes/effects.

It's a great expansion. It's easy to add in and everything is marked so you can tell them apart from the base set. Blessings and curses are an awesome addition. I highly recommend this expansion if you like Elder Sign and are interested in Arkham Horror. Now I don't want to play Elder Sign without this expansion!

I agree with earlier reviews, the game adds some stuff and it's a good expansion. That being said I would like to expound a little bit. First FF has added new cards, replacing the entrance with four entrance cards. This is kind of silly, but on the whole it makes more sense and does indeed fit the box better. Also it allows for certain events like closing one entrance card. Secondly they added some new items and allies and at least one new spell and then made everything more readily available. For instance the new Adventure cards might still extract a heavy toll if one fails they provide more loot than the base game ever did. I would say three or four times more. Also other world cards no longer add doom tokens upon completion, one even takes one doom token off.
Probably the biggest stated difference was the inclusion of blessed and cursed dice. I want more. Think one use, that's it. In my case I rolled the white die once the entire game. They are just green dice but black and white. I wanted something like five terror and a "you lose the game" side and five wilds and a "free common item" for the other. Instead I got a mindless addition.
The true masterpiece of this game is the mythos cards. I like having choices, some are easy, some are hard, they will try to kill and they are fun.
Also of note is the inclusion of additional characters. They have abilities that we like and enjoy. I tried something new and it hurt me while my co-player/girlfriend grabbed the good characters from previous romps through the museum. Additionally the new monsters are interesting, a few give items and then are returned to the cup, one actually nearly kills you. The ancient ones are likewise good but easier than the base game.
