Book Description

June 2005
Both the content and format of this new essential book show the authors' unique understanding of what caregivers need most and have the hardest time finding: direct, practical, problem-solving answers that teach them to cope and help them regain control. The easy-to-read, relaxing informality of questions and answers - a one-of-a-kind format in eldercare books - simultaneously solves readers' problems and provides them with an often gently humorous, occasionally provocative, and frequently poignant look into the emotions and lives of their fellow caregivers. Complete with helpful interactive worksheets and resource lists, this book's helpful mixture of humour, comforting support, and concrete advice offers invaluable support and practical advice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensable and insightful!, June 28, 2005
This review is from: Eldercare 911 Question and Answer Book (Paperback)
Susan and Judie have done it again--delivering helpful, practical and honest answers to the caregiving questions you've always wanted to ask healthcare professionals. This is a must-read if you are caring for a loved one (or if you think that you may have to someday)--along with their first book, 'ELDERCARE 911'. Both provide thorough, useful and invaluable advice that you will want to have at your fingertips. They know what they're talking about--and have been welcomed guests, helping listeners on my Internet radio program, 'Coping With Caregiving'.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last--Real Caregiving Solutions for Real Situations, September 20, 2005
By
AJ (Queens, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Eldercare 911 Question and Answer Book (Paperback)
With so many "eldercare" self-help books on the market, it is truly a breath of fresh air to read this follow up to the authors' first book, "Eldercare 911." Unlike other books dealing with eldercare, the question and answer format of this book is replete with real life examples of what really goes on between the caregiver and the older person. As a caregiver and a professional in the field of geriatrics for nearly 20 years, many of the situations described in this book really resonated with me. Also, kudos to the authors for addressing an underappreciated and underserved population: male caregivers. I think this book will appeal to individuals who are embarrassed or anxious to ask about those uncomfortable questions or who think that no one else is experiencing the same difficulties they are as caregivers. I also found the Q & A format to be immensely readable and enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and reassuring, August 22, 2005

This review is from: Eldercare 911 Question and Answer Book (Paperback)
This followup book really struck a chord. So many of the letters could have been written by my wife or myself. It is a relief to know that others have experienced exactly the same situations that we have. Ms. Beerman's sure and measured advice for dealing with the various issues of family, finances. and mostly ourselves, helped pull us through.
