By
This review is from: Go / Elderly Woman Behind Counter (Acous.) / Alone (Audio CD)
This single is one of pearl jams finest. I have to say the best song on the CD is Alone. Why this was never released is beyond me. If you are going to buy a single make sure you pick up this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pearl Jams Alone an album song not a B-side, March 22, 2001
By
This review is from: Go / Elderly Woman Behind Counter (Acous.) / Alone (Audio CD)
You have "go" and "Elderly woman" (distinct from the vs. album). But this single it's worth it, because you have Alone, a great song with a powerful riff and solo. You can hear the two guitars, bass, drums, vocals and everything it's played perfectly and mixed. The solo and interlude show how good composers are Mike and Stone when we talk about music. Everyone knows that pearl jam's singles worth it for the B-sides. I own a lot of singles, but this is a must have in your pearl jam's collection.

Buy it! You'll never be disappointed with "alone".

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant single with unique songs of passion and emotion., November 16, 1999

"Go" is a classic Pearl Jam rocker. It has a tight, edgy riff and a stirring chorus. To cap it all off Mike plays a brilliant, wah-drenched solo that adds to the intense fury this song produces. The b-sides are good too:"Elderly Woman" is a lilting acoustic ballad that displays Eddie's incredible vocal abilities and "Alone" has a furious stop-start riff.In addition, the lyrics for this song are very infectious and stay in your head for days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a fine work of art and energy that fills me with joy!, July 11, 1998

Yes, Go was the first Pearl Jam song I heard. And then I was in love with the music forever. No other song was ever so energetic and powerful to me. Makes my heart beat so fast..I feel like..there's hope. And this song is beautiful...it stirs up a wave of feelings inside of me. It makes me worried, even though I know I'm alright..it's a great song!

4.0 out of 5 stars Three great tunes from PJ, May 31, 2002

Pearl Jam's "Go" is classic, a hard-driving, hard-riffing song with furious drums and urgent lyrics concerning an abusive relationship. Searing guitars help define "Go," and the song was an excellent choice to lead off 1993's Vs. album.

The unreleased version of "Elderly Woman..." on this disc sounds better than the original, at least to me, as the gentle acoustic guitar blends beautifully with Vedder's baritone. One astute reviewer earlier noted that the three songs on this CD correlate to one another, with the middle song portraying a woman who has never left her hometown, while the women in the first and third songs fled to disastrous relationships.

Finally, "Alone" is another treat from Pearl Jam. The song features a clean sound and start-stop formula in the beginning. It's reminiscent of the Pearl Jam tunes on the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, and also the tunes on Ten to a degree. Check out the middle portion of the song, where a high-pitched guitar wails and a cool rhythm guitar steams in the background. Overall, good early stuff from PJ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pearl Jam in top form, October 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Go / Elderly Woman Behind Counter (Acous.) / Alone (Audio CD)
While all Pearl Jam albums are flawless, "vs" is by far the superior studio effort, and the single "GO" really shows just how tight PJ can be. "Turned to my Nemisis, A FOOL NO*** GOD!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny!, April 10, 2002
By
This review is from: Go / Elderly Woman Behind Counter (Acous.) / Alone (Audio CD)
"Go" is a very fast-paced-rough-edged-rocking track. Nowadays mainly referred to as "Dont go," the track deals with an abusive relationship where the abusee is about to leave the abuser, something that makes the abuser realize something might be wrong in him.
Its a very agressive song, and awsome is the least we could say about it.
Also in this cd is an acoustic version of "elderly woman..." there is nothing in this track that you might not be able to hear in any of the recently released live cds. Yet it does appear to have a pecculiar mix that makes everything sound very nice and melancholic.
Most notable on the single is Alone, a b-side, that rules!
This song could song could easily be called "Go part 2." The song deals with a man whose woman has left him, because he hurt her in some way. This track rocks hard!!!!1

This album does not have the songs it contains just because of their commercial succes. No, its a rathee conceptual album that deals with loneliness, departure, and abandonment.
Go and alone are two parts in the same story, while elderly woman is a depiction of the world the woman in both stories would have lived if she had never left her town.

this cd is a must have!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great single, May 1, 2000
This review is from: Go / Elderly Woman Behind Counter (Acous.) / Alone (Audio CD)
This single is a must have! Go not only is one of pearl jam's great go give it your everything songs, but Alone is a great song that is rough finding. Perhaps the gem to this sing is the acoustic version to Elderly Woman... The first time I listened to it, the song blew me away and begged to be played time and again. This definately is a single worth purchasing.
