3.0 out of 5 stars Lioness Indeed July 29, 2014

I bought it becuase Eleanor is a 36th great grandmother. One can get as much information from Wikepedia. It's OK but does not offer any information beyond what is available at any good Google search. Eleanor of Aquitaine is certainly one of the most fascinating of women: mother to kinds of France and of England, a leader of two Crusades to the Holy Land, a "winner" in the quest for an annulment from the King of France from the Pope, and the real "mother" of England with the war chest of land and money she brought to the English people.

Intensive fact-packed little volume that is probably immensely useful if you're doing historical or genealogical research. Not a novel - quality entertainment read. But I will keep it for reference.

Reads like a documentary rather than a novel. Good information, but boring presentation.Would recommend only for history detail buffs and research.
