4.0 out of 5 stars Nice cup holder
Nice cup holder that works great for the disposable coffee cups you get at most coffee stores (or reusable cups of similar shape). Yes, the photo of the mount is different than actual, but the actual mount is a better design.

It uses a metal band with rubber spacer that can be tightened extremely tight on the handle bars so there is no chance of the cup...

1.0 out of 5 stars Hopeless
The mount that I received does not look like the mount in the picture. It does not work. I have quite narrow handlebars on my bike, but still the provided mount did not reach around them. Hopeless.

Nice cup holder that works great for the disposable coffee cups you get at most coffee stores (or reusable cups of similar shape). Yes, the photo of the mount is different than actual, but the actual mount is a better design.

It uses a metal band with rubber spacer that can be tightened extremely tight on the handle bars so there is no chance of the cup holder swiveling around the bar. The only issue is it is a bit hard to get the bolt started that tightens the band.

The second benefit of the metal band holder vs the pictured holder is that the cup holder on the metal band holder can be rotated if you can't mount your cup holder on a level spot on your handle bar. The metal mount can be mounted at an angle, and the cup holder part rotated to a horizontal position before you tighten the mounting bolt.

I wanted to get a cup holder than I can put my Starbucks frappuccinos in, and this is the one! Easy to install, holds the cups while you ride. Love it!

I read a lot of people complaining about how it wouldn't hold your water bottle, etc. Well, what would you expect from something titled "cup holder" not "bottle holder". It is a tapered cup holder. Just today I used it for a ride and I can tell you it works for coffee mugs IF they are tapered (which mine is). I used it so far to carry my personal coffee mug and a coffee cup from Starbucks.

Also, I read about how they scratch up your mug if it is stainless steel. This is true, not going to lie, HOWEVER, if you use a little sense, you can easily fix that problem.

I believe Electra should just slightly bend the bottom of the taper out slightly, that would solve all problems for scratching. But, all I used was some felt with adhesive on one side and stuck it around the bottom. Works great. I will also be uploading my pictures so you can see for yourself. (I used a tan color because that's what I had, but I think a black felt would be best in style)

ATTENTION: The cup holder attachment design is different than pictured. Still holds just as well, but it NO LONGER has the metal band. It uses a plastic attachment with finger screw. Go to Electra's website to see what you will be getting now. It does not have any problems holding and does not loosen from my use thus far.

All-in-all this is a great cup holder if you understand what you're purchasing. Looks sleek and does its job well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs matching cup, May 10, 2008
This is secure and easily mounted, but fits only one of my cups. It is metal, with sharp edges and scratches the cup. I doubt if it would work with a disposable cup, due to the lack of bottom support. Liquids splash. Just as easy to use your water cage.....

1.0 out of 5 stars Mount is not as pictured, April 28, 2011
This review is from: Electra Bicycle Cup Holder (Alloy Silver) (Sports)
The item Electra Bicycle Cup Holder (Alloy Silver) 368744 - B001NQ2CM4 is not as pictured. The item pictured (as of April 2011) shows a cup holder with a plastic mount, with what looks like a hand-tighten knob on the rear. The item I received has a different mount altogether - the black part does not go all away around the bar, instead there is a cheap looking band. I'm going to upload some "customer images".

3.0 out of 5 stars Works Well With the Right Cup, July 2, 2011

I'm not a fan of water cages, they get caught on my pant leg and with a step through bike are a pain when I want to haul my bike on a rack.

I also wanted something to put coffee in for my commute. the Electra version works well *if* you use an angled cup. It can only be used with an angled cup. Unfortunately, there are (so far as I can tell) no waterbottles with angled bottoms. But, this does work well with my coffee cups, the starbucks cold beverage cups and some assorted brands.

I would bring along the cupholder when purchasing a cup. Other than that, people comment all the time on my cupholder and how great it is.

I wouldn't mind if it was a little bigger and / or there was a straight cup size option (vs the angle only).
