This was a gift for my 13 year old son who is just starting out on guitar (though he's has many years of music with other instruments behind him.) It is a beautiful guitar and the sound is very good, considering the price of the kit. I'm not an expert, but my guess is it's the perfect choice for a beginner, but it may likely be "outgrown" within a year or two of serious playing.

I bought this as a gift for my dad, and he doesn't have any complaints. He LOVES this, hasn't put it down yet. It was one of the best sets I found - comes with everything you need to get started, and the best for the price too. Arrived sooner than expect. Got it new like it said, though there was one flaw, one of the two screws holding down the output jack on the guitar was pulled out from the body. It was easily fixed by using a thicker screw. Amp works great and came with picks, a strap, cord to hook up the guitar to the amp, and other items.
Great product to start learning guitar on.
