All parts present, no plastic smell noted, looks just like in the picture, made in China (but everything seems to be made in China these days), hot plate is 3.5 inches in diameter and hot enough to burn your finger (I don't recommend touching it although I did)...
I wanted to write a review of this product because the other 1 comment was unfairly negative.
The Norpro electric beverage warmer is a nice little tea or coffee warmer that does exactly what it's supposed to do: Keep drinks warm.
It is not a device to boil water so don't make negative reviews because it doesn't do that.
It keeps drinks at about 120 degrees Fahrenheit, (to me) the perfect drinking temperature.
It has a nice weighty feel and has a illuminated button so you know it's on.
I would like to see an auto-shut off feature but it costs less than $20 so it's still a nice value.
Try one out. It's nice to have your tea warm the whole day.
* I use an instant hot water dispenser (insinkerator) to steep my tea which comes out at 200 degrees.
* I drink out of a tall 16 oz. mug
* I drink either coffee or steep loose leaf tea
* I even transfer my Starbucks to a mug when I get home and put it on the warmer. No more trips to the microwave for a quick warm up!
This warmer keeps my beverage consistently warm. I'm estimating around 195 degrees for as long as it sits on the warmer. I'm elated! As a precaution, since my warmer sits on a cherry wood table, I've placed a tile coaster beneath it. Probably not necessary, but I didn't want to risk anything that warm on the soft wood. It does have low-profile 'feet' on it that allows air to pass and keeps it from direct contact. As other reviewers have mentioned, you do need to shut it off when not using. There is a convenient switch (so no unplugging). However, there is not an automatic turn off. I can see how adding such a feature could be helpful if the user is forgetful, but isn't the point for the cup to stay warm for as long as you want it too? I simply turn it off when I reach the bottom of my drink. I've just made that my habit/routine.
This is a great product for the office, home or anywhere within reach of an electrical outlet. A great gift for tea and coffee drinkers. Like I said, I will probably buy one for my living room and porch.
The biggest problem is the type of vessel your drink is in. For example, the best cup type would be ceramic, and with a flat bottom that covers the bottom of the hot plate. And the sides of the cup are straight, or if the mouth of the cup is smaller at the top than the bottom.
A lot of cups are small at the bottom, and get bigger at the top (like an upside-down pyramid). Since you don't have much of the surface in contact with the hot-plate portion of the device, your drink won't stay warm. So, flat bottom, and more of a pyramid shape; where the top is smaller with a wide bottom. The cup, in my opinion, is as (if not more) important as the beverage warmer.
With that said, I like this one. I usually leave in on the desk in my studio. I turn it on in the morning, and turn it off in the evening.
It is simple, has an easy wipe surface, and the on/off switch is lit up so you can see
if you left it on.
It does not have an auto/shutoff but I don't see any danger.
it will keep your coffee hot for hours, but leaves the handle unaffected. Well worth

perfect so far. on/off switch with two settings, high and low. 4 foot cord. Beverage needs to be hot to start. Not powerful enough to heat up a cold beverage.Published 3 days ago by LA Dave
This warmer does a great job of keeping the bottom third of my coffee mug hot. Unfortunately, it does not keep the liquid inside hot. I'm disappointed in the results.Published 6 days ago by Lori Judson

I use it to heat a bowl of water outside for feral cats that live in our neighborhood.
It keeps the water from freezing.

I purchased this last year and at the same time a Mr. Coffee mug warmer. This one has 2 settings, hi and lo, though hi does not keep the coffee more than about room temperature. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Janet Campbell
