I have owned one of these for years! Was looking to buy more as gifts. Originally bought one for my parents years ago and they're still using it. It works on any type bottle cap or lid. Unless you have problems lifting up the jars it's great under the counter. I bought several as gifts several years ago. Gave one to my elderly aunt who has had multiple shoulder surjuries. Due to not being able to lift anything above chest level we had to devise a lower anchoring point for her jar opener. Works great!! Between my Mom and I WE've kept family and several friends over the years who needed this type of help and some who didn't quite yet, in business with these jar openers. The battery operated jar openers just didn't have the torque that these do. I can even open home canned goods that have been sealed for awhile. And I love the fact that my much needed counter space is not being taken up with this as the counter models do and these open even the gallon pickle jars that don't fit into the counter models, that is if you can lift the gallon jug up to the opener. If not try putting it in a lower cabineet under the counter or in a pantry or storage closet shelf at a lower level. Or as one individual does hold the jar between your legs firmly and place the jar opener on lid, push down and the lid comes off. I don't recommend this but it works for them. Keep your hands out of the way of the moving parts if you try this.

I have RA and was unable to open any type of jar or containers. I ordered this and it is absolutely wonderful. I installed it under the cabinet by my sink where it is really handy. I use it every day. It is they most helpful tool I have in my kitchen. If you have arthritic hands this is a tool you need in your home.

Bought this as a gift for my in-laws. My mother-in-law said it works great for most of the lids but seems to have problems with the thicker lids that come on Jams and Jellies.

Purchased this as a gift for my mother in law. She said that it works wonderful and has allowed her to stop waiting on the husband to come home in order to open a jar! I plan on purchasing this product again this year for my mother, sisters, and of course myself!
