Popa Chubby, after playing at a Jimi Hendrix tribute show, heard many comments from fans that he should record some Hendrix songs. So he did.

Recorded over two nights at a small club in Middletown, NY, Popa Chubby just goes to town on the Jimi Hendrix catalog.

If you're not familiar with Popa Chubby, the dude can play some mean blues guitar and he plays some really great stuff here.

Buy both volumes because they make a hell of a collection.

You won't be disappointed with these discs!

The "Electric Chubbyland" album is a 3-disk set available on Popa's site. The third disk is studio material. Go see one of his shows, he is even better live !

IS THERE A BETTER BLUES SONG THEN "RED HOUSE" ON THIS
CD. WHAT A MASTERFUL VERSION. OUTSTANDING GUITAR WORK.
I WILL BUY MORE OF POPPA CHUBBY.

I do not know why Volume 1 & 2 are not combined--same cover and linear notes. This CD is just fair. Chubby does a somewhat good version of Hendrix songs but what is lacking is a voice that really brings out the songs. Papa's guitar is good but never up to the level of Hendrix. I could think of a dozen guitarists who could do a better job here. There is no emotion in Papa's voice--not at all like Hendrix or even Stevie Ray. The sound is weak and the songs sound cut off in places--the whole thing sounds a little hurried up. I am a Papa Chubby fan but I like his studio recordings much better. He could have done better on these 2 cds.
