this book is awful,
By ShorD143 (TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Electric Circuit Analysis, Student Problem Set with Solutions (Paperback)
Imagine a scenario where you're completely confused in a class and you go to the book for help, only to realize that the book might have just confused you even more. Then you look at the examples to find that those examples given are way easier than any of the practice problems at the end of the section, which means the book is of no help whatsoever. I hate this book.

Not for learning purposes,
This review is from: Electric Circuit Analysis (Hardcover)
This book skims over topics without a good insight over what is being discussed. The reading is quite difficult to grasp without a sufficient background in mathematics, like trigonometry or linear algebra. I found numerous mistakes and errors when doing problems, and the context of the book does not prepare the reader for some of the more complex problems that are given at the end of the chapter. The questions on the back do not start off with simple problems, and are usually found within the range of medium to very hard. I recommend buying another book, and coming back to this one just to do the problems.

Poorly written.,
By Steve K. (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Electric Circuit Analysis (Hardcover)
I (unfortunately) used this book in my first three undergraduate electrial engineering classes. This book should only be used as a reference for someone who is throughly familiar with the material. The basic concepts are poorly explained. Instead of writing thoughtful, well conceived explainations (or even using practical example of real world applications) the authors chose to use strictly mathmatical solutions as the explainations themselves. Although the reader may completely understand the math, the basic understanding (and use) of the concepts will remain unclear. Electric Circuits by Nilsson is considerably better written.
PS Many of my peers agree with this "tame" opinion.

I agree with all the other reviewers that do not care for this book. For me, the most egregious example of this book's poor quality are the mere three paragraphs afforded to the discussion of phase shift through a circuit on pp 561-562.
It it utterly farcical that a college level textbook would devote so little space to the discussion of an absolutely fundamental part of circuit analysis. For many years I have wondered why my circuit analysis skills lagged those of my peers. I feel a large portion of that deficiency is probably because I had to endure this text through a two semester sequence of circuit analysis courses.

I agree with the other reviewer's on here. This book is horrible. Especially for an entry-level EE class. I don't understand how the book has questions at the end of a chapter that cannot be solved with any of the info provided in the chapter. I thought questions were supposed to test your reading? If you have to consult a TA or the internet to answer the question, than the authors do not understand the basic concepts of writing a textbook.
