Book Description

Mcgraw Hill Series in Electrical and Computer Engineering December 1, 1993
This entry for linear circuits courses offers an approach to basic electric circuits - the scientific model-based method of developing a general law by examining real-world cases. Other features include an illustration of the "why" behind electric phenomenon, a selection of worked examples, problems using Spice and Matlab, and additional design problems. Both inductive and deductive processes are emphasized, taking a rigorous engineering approach. More has been included on electronics, non-linear material and operational amps. The emphasis is on design with separate end-of-chapter problems highlighting this area. (An accompanying instructor's manual ISBN: 0-07-004805-3 is also available).

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your money, September 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Electric Circuits (Hardcover)
I find this book a complete waste of money. The book is very difficult to read and understand. Further more, the book is very inaccurate. The Erta Page for this book is large. I've found cheaper books which is a lot easier to understand and more correct for cheaper prices. Save your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book stinks., May 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Electric Circuits (Hardcover)
I am an electronics engineering student, and this book is, quite frankly, terrible. I'm being generous there. The concepts are abstract, the jokes are bland, and the online errata pages near the size of the chapters they cover. I think that other books treating the material in Electric Circuits as a first chapter review do a better job than Balabanian does in his entire book. Quite frankly, if this book didn't cost me so much money, I would have thrown it out after I did not need it anymore to look-up homework questions.

1.0 out of 5 stars Find another text..., April 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Electric Circuits (Hardcover)
This text, though complete and generally accurate, is extraordinarily difficult to read and is desperately lacking examples. After reading just one chapter I wondered if Balabanian had originally written the text in a foreign language and then later translated it into english. The examples he provides can be frustrating since more often than not he concludes the examples with the line "work out the details yourself", which effectively defeats the purpose of having the example at all. In response to the comment that the reader from Mexico city left regarding the accuracy of the text, there is an errata page (sorry I don't have the address on hand) which contains many entries. Some of the errors in the text could easily confuse a student beginning to learn the material. I strongly suggest you look for another book.
