5.0 out of 5 stars A vote for this on DVD, June 30, 2004
This review is from: Electric Dreams (DVD)
All fans of this movie do me a favor. Vote for this review. I ask this not for me, but for the movie. Here is something I have noticed with other reviews I have done. If there are alot of reviews written and several receive lots of votes, the movie follows on DVD. I saw this with "Journey to the Center of the Earth", "The Enemy Below", and "Shoot to Kill" to name a few. Get your friends to vote too. I assure your if we arouse enough interest at this review page we will see results. Amazon notices and pressures the studios. Lets make this happen! It is starting to work. Any time they ask for your e-mail address to be notified when it is released on DVD, things are definitely happening. You people are making it happen!!! Well several of us have contacted MGM, Ted Turner, and Sony to no avail, but you can bet we aren't giving up.

Plot: An architect named Miles buys a computer to help him design a new brick to withstand earthquakes. When he spills champagne in it, it comes to life. Miles falls in love with a cello playing neighbor, and the computer becomes jealous and starts to make his life hell on Earth. The computer is quite dated in this movie since it was made about twenty-five years ago. It is still a blast to watch, and the music is excellent. I'm surprised they haven't done a remake of this one.

As of February 24th, 2011 this is still not available in Region 1 format. If you have a region free DVD player you can get a copy of it on DVD Electric Dreams [Region 2]. The soundtrack Electric Dreams - Soundtrack is available on CD and I love it.

This review is from: Electric Dreams [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I always liked this movie and had to get a copy of it on VHS, even though the price was set for video stores. I still really enjoy this movie. Only in the '80s could they make a movie about a computer that falls in love with it's owner's girlfriend. The music and the atosphere really 'click' in this movie. It has a new wave feel to it, and the plot seems to flow nicely. It would be nice to see this movie released on DVD because it was originally filmed in cinemascope, but the video is formatted in full screen, so some things look cut-off. Other than this, I am glad that I was able to find the VHS version of this movie still available.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lost and overlooked gem, June 2, 2005

This is an absolutely delightful comedy that never found an audience and was yeasrs ahead of its time in its portrayal of the relationship between a computer and its owner. It cries out for release on DVD!!!
