"One of the best forgotten films and soundtracks!",
By
This review is from: Electric Dreams - Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This contains two fabulous songs from Culture Club, "Love Is Love", which is one of the best songs of 1984 and "The Dream", which is just "like Alice in Wonderland". You can't hate it! Even more interesting in that Culture Club's Helen Terry gets here own gig under the production of Georgio Moroder, with "Now Your Mine". Also very entertaining on this album are the other productions from Moroder, "The Chase" and "Madeline's Theme". They are all instrumental, and just beautiful. Another classic that Moroder produced is "Together In Electric Dreams" song by the Human League's Phil Oakey. That ends the album. Please note: The Dream and Love Is Love are not the only two songs written by Boy George. George and Phil Pickett wrote "Electric Dreams", the song that starts the film and the album, sung by P.P. Arnold. This song couldn't be better. I also want to note I never recall this album being released under Virgin America. It was only under Epic America. So this album has been out of print more than 10 years in the U.S. I would purchase it now. You will be thrilled. Thanks for reading

Electric Dreams - Soundtrack,

i remember way back in the 80's watching this as a very small and impressionable kiddy with my mum, dad, aunty&uncle at the Odean pictures in Coventry England. i cried my eyes out and went home and balled some more onto my commodore 64 - ironically named edgar! from then on i was addicted to the soundtrack and my "A" key was never the same!"The Duel" and "Madeleine's Theme" are a beautiful introduction to the cello and still favourites. Enjoy..its worth the dollars.

Computing Spirit of the 80's,
By
This review is from: Electric Dreams - Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The 80's and computers were a magical time. At this time, we had little conception of how this technology would turn our life into a living hell. Is this movie a foreshadowing of the things to come? The movie and soundtrack are the spirit of the 80's, at least as far as computing goes. It would be nice to buy a Electric Dreams DVD, but I guess the soundtrack will have to do for now. :(

I remember the movie Electric Dreams from my childhood, and the music is even more memorable. Together in Electric Dreams is a classic eighties pop tune and Love is Love is a beautiful and romantic song. I'd highly recommend this CD for anyone who appreciates great music from a great decade.

Great, but with a strange remix.,

I've always enjoyed this movie. It's a good story with great music. I look forward to a DVD version. The CD is a great, but with a couple of dissapointing features. There seems to have been an attempt to remix a couple of the scores. Most seem to have been faithfully copied from the movie, though with a somewhat shortened lead-in. My big disappointment was "The Duel". Also a problem on the LP, this, one of the best pieces in the movie, has an.... interruption... right at the height of it. Just as it's tempo is at it's best, there is a break in the music where a rather dull and completely unrelated segment has been inserted... one NOT in the movie. Also, a remix seems to have been done, and the duel itself is rather overwhelmed by the supportive music. I'm assuming that this latter was unintentional. The rest of the CD it very enjoyable.... STILL worth purchasing.

Finally Have on CD,

I almost wore out the tape I had of this soundtrack in my high school days. I actually had to restrain myself from playing it too much in order to preserve it's life. When I saw that the CD was available through an Amazon affiliate for a very reasonable price, I knew I had to get it. I'm listening to "The Duel" right now as I type...
This sure brings back memories of watching this movie in high school literature class and another memorable time with the girl I was dating that later became my wife. We chose "Love Is Love" as one of our wedding songs. I can't say I'm a Boy George fan, but both his songs on here are very beautiful - especially when you think of how nicely they were incorporated into the movie. I still regard this movie as the most successful integration of a soundtrack with the plot of the movie. From the rocking party anthem of "Let It Run" to the very emotional "Madeline's Theme" the songs were more then just background - they were a part of the movie. It was almost like watching a really good set of music videos that all worked together to build a story. As others have said, I also was inspired by this movie to get involved with computers and music. As a programmer, I have learned to really dislike computers as a business tool, but I think that they are awesome as an agent for promoting musical creativity. If you haven't seen the movie - watch it. Then get the CD while you can, because you'll want to remember the feeling for a long time to come.

Anyone that has seen the movie 'Electric Dreams' with the fantastic Virginia Madsen will already know that one of the many great things about the film is the soundtrack. I Love the film and I adore the soundtrack to this wonderful film. A definite must have to any one that loves a good, moving story, and great music.By Justine Ryan

The film is a classic, the soundtrack outstanding. The smooth vocals on the love songs, the catchy tunes on the playful songs made the movie a richer experience. I recommend Love is Love and The Dream with candlelight, and a glass of wine. Boy George's vocals are nothing short of miraculous. I've searched for this soundtrack for years...I'm so glad I found it.

I remember prancing around my mom's coffee table to the vinyl version of this soundtrack. Unfortunately, the record is all scratched up, but now I have this terrific CD to replace it! If you haven't seen the movie, I suggest finding a copy. You might find it on half.com like I did. I noticed on the other reviews that someone was inspired to take up the cello after watching it. I did too! If you wanna learn how to play something similar to the duel, just find Bach's Minuet in G, I think. If you grew up with this movie you will not regret buying the soundtrack. It'll bring back all those wondeful romantic feelings you had when you first watched it. P.s. I love Edgar! There should be an Edgar screensaver somewhere. |
