This book provides a good overview of a very wide array of topics. However, each topic has been written by a different person and the level of detail that they have gone into varies widely. Additionally, this has led to repeated coverage of some topics. In general I would say this book is a great resource for finding other resources. Every section gives a good list of resources as well as citing related code requirements and applicable design guidelines (i.e. gives appropriate IEEE or NFPA section to look up).

Finally, some of the information is sadly out of date, especially in fast changing areas like PV. Don't let the 2007 copyright date fool you; many of the sections appear to have been written in the late 90's.

Good background read to educate the uninitiated in how electricity is generated, transmitted and distributed
