Book Description

June 1, 1992
Electric Guitar Primer Book by Bert Casey is a unique and very effective beginning guitar book combining popular songs with step by step, easy to follow instructions and works equally well for electric or acoustic guitar. Based on over 25 years of both private and classroom instruction, it includes everything the beginning guitar student needs to start playing right away (strumming chords, rock & roll riffs, easy to understand diagrams & pictures, complete chord chart, scale section, and barre chord section). The accompanying audio CD is in stereo with the guitar on one channel and a full band with vocals on the other.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

A great beginning method for electric guitar. Combines all the basics to learn popular songs in a step by step method that starts the student on the road to becoming a rock & roll player.

This is a great starter guitar book even for acoustic. I am accomplished in reading music for piano but needed refresher for guitar which I barely learned. I find this book very helpful and it has a dvd for extra help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn the basics quickly, May 7, 2010

Bert Casey is an excellent guitar teacher--I used his Bluegrass books to learn flat picking and thought I would give the Electric Guitar Primer a try. I only wish I had started with this book when I first picked up a guitar! It starts from the very basics and moves a beginning student quickly into the basics of both rythm and lead rock guitar. I'm going forward with the Blues and Rock intermediate books. This is a great system for anyone who wants private guitar lessons but doesn't have the time or money for one-on-one instruction. If you are just beginning guitar, get both the DVD and book. You can and will be able to play guitar with Bert Casey's help!
