Editorial Reviews

Ready to capture the World's attention once again, Electric Love marks the explosive return of Grammy award-winning Dirty Vegas. The group has had worldwide fame with their infectious and acclaimed hit track "Days Go By" (which was featured in the trailblazing Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial). Now the group is back with their 2011 effort, Electric Love. The album finds that elusive sweet spot between the slickly polished electronic sounds of their past and a more decidedly rock edge, deftly balancing beats and guitar-led melodies.

The songs are actually very good but way too short.

It's hard to believe their hit "Days Go By" is already 8-9 years old. For those who don't know, that whole self titled album is really good. After the success of that release and one more this British band took some years off. They're back.

Electric Love is more of the sound that made them popular, and fine by me. Large doses of catchy synth and drums. There's also some guitar on this album which is new for them...I think. No it's not a guitar album, but adds to the richness of the overall sound. A good move. Hard to not compare to Moby or BT, as the sound is very likable electro-pop. Steve Smith adds great vocals. I think his voice it a good fit with the music.

I'm liking this more every minute I listen to it. There's songs made for the dancefloor, but also some that would be perfect for driving...top down of course. It's obvious these guys are trying to reclaim the fame. Half the album is quite radio-friendly. Somehow sounds retro yet 2011 at the same time.

I know nothing of this band, other than their Days Go By hit many years ago, which I didn't really like. I listened to a couple of songs and really liked the sound. I downloaded the entire album, and I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised. really good album. Electronic meets pop with hints of disco in some songs. What a gem.

I have been a fan since the first album when I got sucked in by the Mitsubishi commercial ~ I have remained a fan because they continually raise the bar and continue to be creative with each new song and/or album released. This album is exceptional as each track has something different and unique to offer. It was well worth the LONG wait - I'm glad the band is back, and back in a BIG way!! Well done!

04-28-11 - Update
I have been listening to the album since yesterday and I wanted to make another comment - It's been a while since I have purchased an album that I can listen to from beginning to end as it all "fits" so well.

Dirty Vegas never fails to disappoint. They truly are an "album oriented" band as opposed to "singles." As with their last CD's, it's the songs you don't hear that are the keepers. Very glad they reunited.

Great fresh new music from a well known talented amazing band. I remember seeing them as an opener for Tears for Fears and was amazed if these guys could do this well LIVE?

Dirty Vegas fans will not be sad by this

I absolutely love this CD. I've been a fan of Dirty Vegas from the very first album and I thought the second one was a great evolution of a unique sound. I was ecstatic to hear that Steve Smith has returned as the main vocalist along with Paul and Ben Harris. For a moment a few years ago Steve struck out on his own and I am glad they are back together, they make an amazing team. Overall the songs are very upbeat and full of energy but I miss the slower tempo songs that I grew to love on the original album such as Candles and Simple Things.

Some of my favorite tracks on this album on the first few passes are Emma and Never Enough. If you are a fan of Dirty Vegas you can't miss this CD, buy it and you won't regret it at all. If you're not a fan of the band or the genre you should buy the album regardless just because they're that awesome and deserve your support.

I have been anticipating this album since I learned of the trio's reformation. As the songs and samples started to leak out onto the web I started to become a bit worried with how the final product would turn out. After listening to the album several times I must say I am a bit disappointed. The ambient electro-acoustic sound that I grew to love from the band has been suppressed in Electric Love. Nearly every track on the album contains a very quick tempo and heavy synthesizer.

I am not saying in any way that the album is bad. The group put together a great upbeat dance album and the more and more I listen to it the more I love it. I am just going to have to reach for one of their earlier works when I am in the mood to relax.
