We bought this for home use, and feel it's fine for that. Probably wouldn't recommend for retail use. No safety features. Little to no instructions. Spring that helps control shaving blade falls out, as there is nothing to hold it in place. There is a fear that main plastic housing might crack over the long term. On the positive, motor works well. Main pieces decent quality. Came well lubed. All in all, a great product for the price. Would have been very upset if I'd paid $1200, but at $200, great deal. Oh, be aware it is physically very large and heavy.

This machine produces excellent quality shaved ice. Balance is a bit wobbly. Might make your heart flutter when the block of ice cracks and gets tossed around. I can fill a 100 gallon cooler in less than 50 minutes.

This unit is a work-horse. I was a little reluctant when purchasing, thought it may be another under-powered, poorly constructed kitchen utensil (think slap-chop). Item arrived well packaged in a box as big as a file cabinet. Shaver is very large and heavy-duty. Living in So.CA., with 4 children, this unit was used everyday of the summer, making between 8-10 shaved ices a day (could have made 800 a day)for almost 5 months.
Super easy to operate and clean. The manufacturer could have put a shield on the front, as ice blocks, straight out of the freezer, have a tendency to shatter and throw ice chips, to remedy, let the ice sit in the sink for 5-10 minutes before shaving. Best thing I bought all year!
