3.5 stars - M.ILL.ION's transition album, March 23, 2007
This review is from: Electric (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1998, Electric was the third studio album from Swedish melodic rockers M.ILL.ION. The band started as something of a hair metal band in the early `90s before going with a harder edged melodic rock sound in the new millennium. Electric falls somewhere between the two sounds.
Electric features fast-paced melodic hard rock songs with a slight `80s party rock vibe. The vocals are a bit rough around the edges (and the singer doesn't seem to have a great grasp of the English language), but they suit this style of music. There are plenty of fist-pumping rock anthems here, and some songs that go in a metal direction, but all the songs are very melodic.
It's not as impressive as their later albums, but Electric is a pretty solid M.ILL.ION offering. I'd compare it to early Pink Cream 69 and Jaded Heart with its "amps to 11" melodic rock sound. If you're new to the band, I think
Thrill of the Chase is a better starting point. If you're already a M.ILL.ION fan, Electric is worth checking out.
Edition Notes: Majestic reissued Electric (as well as the rest of the early M.ILL.ION catalog) in 2004. The reissue features digitally remastered sound and a bonus video for the song "Candyman."
