I was so excited to get the motor to add to my strainer, so I could make lots of applesauce without getting completely worn out physically from having to churn that crank by hand. At first it worked great, but less than halfway into my first bushel of apples it stopped working. We took it all apart, put it back together, and it still didn't work. I finally realized that the movable arm that holds the motor against the spring assembly wasn't strong enough. If I pushed the motor against the spring, it would work and turn the coil, but if I let go, it didn't work. We finally rigged up a complex bungee cord arrangement that holds the motor in place, and it's working great now. But it sure seems like the design needs some improvement.

We purchased this motor earlier in the year. The first time we used it the plastic gears inside broke about halfway through the process. We contacted Weston for a replacement as was required by the paperwork sent with the motor. They were out of stock so we waited several months for the replacement. The replacement does not attach properly to the pasta machine so that it doesn't turn consistently. When I talked with Weston they refused a refund to me. They told me that I had to go back to Amazon for a refund -- which I explained to them I cannot do because it was well over 30 days from the time I purchased the original defective motor from them. Nonetheless they refused to help me beyond telling me I could "bend" the arm on the motor to get it to work effectively, even though I explained that 3 of us worked on it, trying various options like that unsuccessfully. Sight unseen they insisted that the motor does work. Now I'm out more than $60 and without any recourse from Weston because they don't stand behind their products.
