Plasma Ball: Starring Aaron's and Kevin's Fingers,
By
This review is from: Electric Novelties: Plasma Nebula Ball
A gift to a college student graduating with a degree in Science. I shot this in the afternoon using my digital camera. In real life, the plasma ball looks just like the photographs on the product page. Everyone at the party loved this; all ages!

Plasma Ball- Amazing Lightning Globe!
i got this for my Middle School Library Media Center and the kids love it! they love to fiddle with things on my circulation counter but this gives them a toy (a Science, toy!) that they CAN play with rather than computer cords! they LOVE it!!! now if they only made a steampunk version, i'd be in heaven!

Not pleased with the size,

The plasma ball works just fine, but I was expecting a ball that was 8" in diameter, not an item that was 8" tall. The ball is about 4" in diameter. I guess I should have read more of the prior reviews.

I like to give my grandson gifts that intrigue his imagination and open up his mind to new ideas. He loves the plasma ball. Not only is the plasma ball fun, it has opened up learning conversations about electricity. Also, I scored big with a gift he thinks is a really cool.

My 6 yr old girl and nephews love this item. It is small, but quite beautiful. I was a bit concerned about the size when I purchased, but it is certainly adequate. I was surprised that it generated static electricity, though. The kids kept shocking each other when they touched the ball and each other. That part is a bit concerning, but I suppose it is just part of the way the ball works.

Low quality, beams almost non-existent after a few days of use... When it is turned on there is only one single weak lone static beam showing one. The quality, durability and utility value proposition of such item is really ridiculous.

Great Attention Getter,

These lights instantly draw the attentions of everybody in any room, kids and adults alike. I personally find them very cool to play with, and this specific model didn't disappoint at all. The packaging that mine arrived in looks like it had been around in the early 90's, but once that was removed, the light itself looks perfectly fine. I plugged it in, turned it on, and it immediately began to work. No hassle, no difficulties at all. It's very bright, and happens to be one of the cheapest Plasma balls of its size available on Amazon. In terms of size, I was very happy with that as well. It wasn't huge, but the picture shown is very accurate. The base was smaller than some, but still very sturdy. If placed on a stand and not moved around too much, this product would probably last for a very long time, but it is very susceptible to being dropped. That's how my first one died, but that was my own fault. I recently purchased another one as a replacement, and I've been just as content with the ball as I was the first time around.

I've owned a plasma ball in the past and wanted to share the experience with my girlfriends nephews. This Item had the best reviews. Unfortunately I'll never know because it was DOA. Possible it was the shipping as the box had some wiggle room inside. I was curious and took it apart. Appears the power connections were never properly hooked up to the board. Aside from that, one of the screws on the bottom was already stripped. Not a good product to order online. Go to a local novelty shop like 'Spencers' if you are in the market for one.

I got two of these and here is what happened. It was absolutely brilliant to look at in the beginning and here is a video I made of it.
[...] But after 2 months the sparks became less in number and finally there were none....only the surface of the central electrode glows now, but no more sparks. |
