And yet another....,

startling revelation from the Milwaukee boys of The Promise Ring. Quick on the heels of their great achievement/disappointment of "Very Emergency," The Promise Ring prove to you that they're a power pop band, and dammit, they're good at it. Forget about that emo-schmemo that you started out loving about these guys and just listen to how much fun they're having. Seriously, it's there, and it'll flow out of their pores into you. Sounds to me like someone got a little tired about nothing feeling good and decided that it can, provided you leave enough room for it. "Very Emergency" sounded like a transition somewhere in between "Nothing feels Good" and this EP, just warming you to what's to come, and letting you decide if you're going to let Davey woo you with his emoless pop melodies. This CD brings back the energy that you felt in "Nothing..." and merges them with the songs structures that "...Emergency" brought you. These songs are like the taste of liquor on someone's lips; it's not like drinking from the source, but the kiss is damn sweet.

What is "emo"?,
By Ryan Jones (Austin TX) - See all my reviews

"Emo" is such a wimpy word to describe this band and record. The Promise Ring, fresh off of their last album "Very Emergency", have put out new material on "Electric Pink". Although it may not be their finest work since "Nothing Feels Good", it shows that the band is dedicated to the fans by putting out fresh songs for the band's rabid followers who have craved more since "Very Emergency". It is worth a listen for those who want to start listening to the Promise Ring, and a must have for the fans.

Cmon now really Dropkick Murphys, The Business, that is total opposite of what these guys are. Maybe if you were in your mid twenties now you would understand better kids. Stop buying sucky music with your parents credit card

Strictly catchy.,

This sounds similar to catchy pop of "Very Emergency". If you didn't like "Very Emergency" you will not like this. For most part, two of these songs came from the "Very Emergency" sessions, and the other two are tracks recorded for this EP. There isn't much to say about this, apparently you'll hate it if you're not a TPR fan and didn't enjoy the album before this. You'll love it if you're a pop (fan) like me into Weezer and anything horribly catchy. "So, yeah, I feel electric pink in the cheeks/ We look like animals seven days a week"

solid on the ends,
By Joshua J Steele (san francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews

the title track proclaims the band's self induced picture of themselves "looking like animals" and they want a mix tape with a little Husker Du. Me? I sit and smile while my head wiggles from side to side, the fog suddenly disspates and Davey's lisp reverberates around my flat with glee...A portion of this EP was recorded during the "Very Emergency" sessions and it shows...happiness is still the rage and it seems like the crew has found something that feels good....however, why they are touring with Bad Religion is beyond me. the underage, drunken boat that sailed in for the Warfield show taunted the band and proceeded to throw beers at them while constructing a pit of testosterone that probably would have gone on even if Burt Bacharach would've intervened.

Rather dull,

After expecting something alittle more promising from the Promise Ring, I have to say that this c.d. is the worst purchase I have made in the past year. Once I heard the song Raspberry Rush, I said to myself that these guys are great. I wanted to purchase that c.d. at a record store but they didn't carry it. I bought this as a precursor to my next purchase. I was very upset. This sounds even worse than that New Found Glory garbage. Don't buy this, unless you have a Promise Ring fetish.

if you liked the very emergency or boys and girls you'll love this album by the promise ring. its energetic and catchy and not too heavy. The lyrics aren't quite as cryptic as the early albums but they might make you laugh. it might not make you cry but you might be bobbing your head and singing along.........

garbage pure and simple,

This is weak and cheesy music. The whole EMO genre is complete BS. If you want punk riffs listen to The Business and The Dropkick Murphy's, two bands that blow the Promise Ring out of the water.
