Good Intro book, July 8, 2011
This review is from: Electric Power Planning for Regulated and Deregulated Markets (Hardcover)
This is a great book for an introductory understanding of how electric power planning and electric industry economics work. The book starts with a few electrical engineering terms. Its a good book to start if you want to familiarize yourself with the terminology in the electric industry and grid operations.
Do not expect anything thought provoking or challenging from this book. A lot of the heavy mathematical weight lifting has been reserved for other more advanced books (Bregen, Cohen, Stevenson). If you are looking for a book to use a reference for power systems engineering, this book is probably not for you. If you are looking for a good intro book on how the grid works and how the economics of dispatch works, this is a good place to start.
I would call this book a "gateway book" to engage in the engineering and economics of the electrical industry.
