This review is from: Electric Pop (Audio CD)
At first when I heard this CD I had really mixed emotions. Some of the songs were the hardcore electro I've come to love. Others were strange German electro/synth-pop -- some of which work very well. Some don't. The "Laser Karaoke" track I can't quite swallow yet.Felix da Housecat w/ Miss Kittin makes an expected appearance, but with the excellent track "What Does it Feel Like?" mixed by Röyksopp. But the tracks that really grew on me the most, at first seemed a bit too "velveeta" by my usual drum 'n' bass standards: Felix Rennefeld "Game Over", Hakan Libdo "Sexy Robot" and the "non-velveeta", but very teutonic "Erdbeermund" by Ellen Allien. Make sure to pay attention to those tracks. I'm going to give it another listen tonight -- both discs. I know some of the other tracks are starting to click, and I'm looking forward to those. Definitely something to pick up if you're interested in the creative German electro scene, which seems to be evolving more quickly than its American counterpart. And any CD that requires a few listens before you comprehend it all is almost always a good buy.
