The astounding technological developments of our age depend on a safe, reliable, and economical supply of electric power. It stands central to continued innovations and particularly to the future of developing countries. Therefore, the importance of electric power engineering cannot be overstated, nor can the importance of this handbook to the power engineer.

Until now, however, power engineers have had no comprehensive reference to help answer their questions quickly, concisely, and authoritatively-A one-stop reference written by electric power engineers specifically for electric power engineers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference for Engineers and Technicians, April 8, 2009
I wasn't sure when I saw this set of books the first time, thinking this might just be another "handbook" out there. However, I decided to buy it after reviewing and comparing with other books, and let me tell you who still try to make the decision: this is THE handbook you want. The set comes in five books that covers pretty much all aspects of power engineering. Topics include transformer, substation, T&D, power system, power generation, etc. This handbook set is by no means textbook, however, it covers lots of engineering principles with well illustrated equations and explanations. It comes with plenty of pictures, and appropriate reference to industry standards such as IEEE and NEC. These are very up-to-date, and provide further explanation to the text. I think this handbook is a very useful tool that electrical engineers/technicians want to put to their library. I also highly recommend this book to fresh out of school students who begin their career in the electrical/power industry, as the topics covered can quickly get them up to speed in terms of knowing what's out there in the industry and why. Either you're in system study, operation & control, protection, equipment maintenance, or the related field, you'll be able find a relevant chapter in this handbook. In short, this handbook is very relevant and comprehensive, and well written by experienced professionals from both the industry and academia. I give it a 5-star.
