5.0 out of 5 stars I love this music!!, February 14, 2002
This review is from: Electric Saxophone (Audio CD)
I gotta hand it to John Sampen. He knows how to take something that would normally sound simple, and turn it into something that is almost like an action film. Each one of these pieces kept me at the edge of my seat wanting to know what will come next. It is like theatrical music. The ever popular Wings by Joan Tower is abolutely beatiful, and the Waterwings is possibly the most amazing piece I have heard for saxophone with electronics. I love this recording and it is a must have for all saxophonists. For a better appreciation of music with tapes accompaniment this album is the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting way of thinking about music., June 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Electric Saxophone (Audio CD)
This recording represents many strategies composers have taken toward combining the sound of the saxophist with electronic, digital recordings. All tracks are beautiful expressions of artistic will, and each piece explores new areas of the music spectrum you were not expecting. This art-music is presented very professionally, with the full integrity expected when playing these monumental compositions.
