Book Description

December 1, 2004
Trebor Nehoc has worked all over the New York City subway. And not just as a cop, but also as a sergeant and lieutenant. He has been assigned to everything from late night solo train patrol to an academy instructor and finally as an anti-crime supervisor. As they say here in New York , he has been around the block, twice. Trebor has taken his years on the job and transcribed them into some very funny, very touching stories. With great wit, sharp details and some brisk writing, his War Stories describe what life was like down there in the Electric Sewer.

5.0 out of 5 stars As real as it gets!, February 9, 2005
By

This review is from: The Electric Sewer (Paperback)
Nehoc paints a vivid picture of what it was like to be a police officer in the "Belly of the Beast", the NYC Subway. His vignettes of the now defunct NYC Transit Police capture the gritty, hard edged, and often very funny aspects of policing. I would have liked to be there for some of the wild stories related by Trebor.

I enjoyed Nehoc's slick writing style and tongue-in-cheek humor. I can't wait for the movie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Cop Book, March 20, 2005
By
Destroyer Veteran "TL" (Lansdale, Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Electric Sewer (Paperback)
Nehoc not only captures the feel of NYC Transit Police work, he is able to show us what it was like and with an infectious humor that makes you laugh until you hurt. This is not a book to read in public or while drinking coffee. Nehoc's short vignettes are so addictive that you soon find that you've read twenty of them instead of the one or two you actually had time for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funniest Cop Stories I Have Ever Read, March 18, 2005
This review is from: The Electric Sewer (Paperback)
Growing up in NYC usually is synonomous with being a veteran subway rider..there is actually no other way to get around the 5 boroughs without them. I found this book to be extremely funny and it was amazing to see the subways from an "insider's" view! Having grown up around alot of NYC cops, I have always loved hearing their stories, and I guess most people feel that way from the success of police stories like "Cops" and "NYPD Blue". Unlike the above mentioned, Trebor Nehoc's stories are so funny that you will find yourself laughing out loud! Not too many books can make me do that! I think everyone who has ever ridden a subway should read this book, you may even see yourself or someone you know in some of the stories.....can't wait for a sequel!!!!
