I really like this takoyaki maker. I was worried about making 24 takoyaki because I thought all of them would need to be turned quickly before they burn, but found out it takes a little time for them to cook through so you have plenty of time to turn each piece. Mine came out great and very glad I purchased this item.

The only issue I had was there were weak temperature spots near the cord. The first left column closest to the cord took twice the time to cook through. Otherwise, it's 5 star for me.

I'm a huge Takoyaki fan. No kidding.
I used this exact same Takoyaki Pan at a friend's place few months ago. It was amazing, so I decided to buy it on Amazon to celebrate Mother's Day this year. I compared between few other options on Amazon but decided to go for this 24 pc model because the price and quantities it allows you to make at once. Some other models have the removable pans that you can switch back and forth with the regular flat pan. I don't think it is that useful as the surface is too small to grill food.

This model works pretty well but there are few small drawbacks that you should be aware of.
1. This product doesn't come with a bamboo stick or anything that you could use while making your takoyaki balls. You need a barbecue stick to turn the takoyaki balls so they can be cooked evenly.
2. This product doesn't come with a brush to apply oil on the pan. Note that it is very important to have oil on the pan before you pull down the batter. Your tako balls won't be crispy, round or brown-colored if you don't apply oil on the pan prior to pulling the batter. Alternatively, you can buy the spray cooking oil, so you are able to apply oil on the pan very evenly and quickly.
3. This product doesn't have temperature control function, which is 'fine', but temperature could go too high after a while. Therefore, make sure you turn off the power when the pan is getting too hot. Your tako balls will be burned and turned black if you don't pause the power. Of course, you have to turn back on when the temperature drops down.

Other than these three things, I will say the function is decent and it is very fun to make your own Takoyaki balls at home. Make sure to drizzle enough seaweed and bonito flakes on your finished Takoyaki. They are amazingly delicious!

We were a little nervous using this item in the United States since the voltage is different here, but we haven't had any problems. My husband grew up in Japan, and LOVES being able to make takoyaki right here in Kansas! Great product and easy to clean.

I bought this pan for my first attempt at making takoyaki. It's an excellent pan and is designed very well with high sides to keep the batter from pouring all over the place. It heats relatively evenly although the corner takoyaki balls tend to take a little longer to cook through. I'm really pleased with the end results. The box does state, "For use in Japan only", likely because Japan serves it's customers with 100 Volt A/C instead of 120 Volt A/C in the US and 230 Volt A/C in Europe. It seems to run just fine on US current, although I suspect it is running slightly hotter than it normally would on Japan's 100 Volt A/C....so you do have to work quicker to keep the takoyaki from burning. I'm very pleased with the end results!

Pro(s):

Portable. You can take it with you to cook takoyaki at small parties.
Easy to clean.
Non stick molds.

Con(s):
Some molds are hotter than others (see note below).
The unit feels cheaply made.
Non-adjustable temperature.

Seeing as it's a product of Japan, I'm guessing the difference in voltage outlet (America = 120 volts, Japan = 100 volts) caused the molds to have different temperatures? Sometimes I'll have to switch the device on and off to regulate the temperature because the mold will get so hot that it'll burn your takoyaki before cooking the inside. The corner molds are the most troublesome. It doesn't get hot enough.

I received this as a gift from hubby (included in my wish list) last Christmas, and today (a snow day) if the first time I and my sons have used it (we had fun!). It really is a good family bonding time as teamwork is quite necessary to grease, fill these with the batter and filling, and flip (using chopsticks). We were like an assembly line. We made Æbleskiver, actually, as we don't have the ingredients for takoyaki, and we are not sure we will like them. We used different jams as fillings. Perfect bite-sized pieces. I did have to turn off the gadget at some point because we were too slow and some of the pancakes were burning. The pan is removable, and can be cleaned by wiping with damp washcloth.

Great for making takoyaki, or even for making pancakes. I have brought it to work and made pancakes filled with bacon or chocolate chips or bananas or blueberries... Always a hit. Just make sue to use wooden or silicon instruments to turn the takoyaki so you don't scratch the nonstick coating.
