5.0 out of 5 stars Book Review, July 29, 2006
This review is from: Electric Utility Systems and Practices (Hardcover)
It is a good book for learning about Electric Power Systems. Though all of the chapters in this book are well written, I found the chapters on Electric Power Generation [3,4,5,6], Substations [10], and Stability [13] to be the most useful. This book, however, doesn't contain any problems, but is worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars expensive but necessary, November 22, 2008

This review is from: Electric Utility Systems and Practices (Hardcover)
Not as dry as other books of this type. I found the book quite pricey but got my employer to pay for it. Parts of the new NERC exam is based on several chapters of this book so is a must read for power system dispatchers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Old Material not updated., January 17, 2012

This review is from: Electric Utility Systems and Practices (Hardcover)
I have three versions o this book. The first two were loose leaf binders. This version is a hardback book but looks like poor copy machine version of the previous. Pictures look like copies of copies of copies. Much of the material is out of date. For instance the book talks about power line carrier as the most popular means for a transfer trip relay scheme - no mention of fiber optic. It has some good basic information but could have used an update.
