5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Practical Handbook, April 29, 2003
By
Keith Patching (Pickering, ON Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Electrical Equipment Handbook : Troubleshooting and Maintenance (Hardcover)
This is an excellent, practical handbook on electrical equipment. It contains clear descriptions of how electrical components are constructed, how they work, how to maintain them, and how to troubleshoot them. Points in the text are illustrated through numerous detailed photographs, drawings and graphs. Topics include transformers, motors, generators, drives, circuit breakers, electrical systems, etc. It also includes topics such as bearings and lubrication, used oil analysis and vibration analysis.

I have attended two courses taught by Philip Kiameh at the University of Toronto's Professional Development Centre, one on power generation equipment and the other on mechanical equipment. Philip was an excellent teacher and his text books are similarly excellent and I highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Assessment of Electrical Equipment Handbook by P. Kiameh, June 8, 2003
By
This review is from: Electrical Equipment Handbook : Troubleshooting and Maintenance (Hardcover)
Mr Kiameh has done it again. He has captured his vast practical knowledge into this simple yet comprehensive handbook. The difference between this book and a typical text used in the academic world is that one can find solutions and descriptions to their plant problems; the academic texts are heavily biased to the theorectical while Mr. Kiameh's approach hinges strongly in the industrial aspects.
